Introduction

Hi, I have been installing solar since 2004. I was the first state licensed solar installer in my home state of Louisiana where I installed over 1,000 systems. I am a NABCEP certified PV Installation Professional and I am certified by most every equipment manufacture on the market, including Tesla, Generac, LG Chem, SolarEdge, Enphase, Outback, and SMA. I am passionate about providing quality installations that are going to last at reasonable prices. I am a licensed drone pilot. I use drones to create a 3D design of the system and model production. My company is fully licensed and insured. I also install solar pool heaters. In addition to solar, being a Texas state licensed master electrician I can do any electrical upgrades/installation project you may need. I install car chargers, home automation, generators and generator inlets.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have financing available. My lenders do not charge a dealer fee, so my prices are often 20% less expensive on an apples to apples comparison.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to find out what the customer’s goals are, not just assume they are looking for the cheapest solution

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Associates in Electromechanical Engineering, MBA, state licensed electrical contractor, NABCEP certified, certified installer for Iron Ridge racking, REC modules, Sharp modules, SMA, Outback power systems, Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla and Generac, FFA drone pilot license.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started in solar while working offshore as a Rig Electrician. I was looking for a job that I did not have to leave home for two weeks at a time. I took a week long training course with Sharp electronics in 2004.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Customers I typically work with are close to retirement and are looking for ways to cut their expenses during retirement

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently installed a 15 kW solar array with 40 kWh of battery backup and a standby generator. I enjoyed getting to interstate all the different systems and seeing them work

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Compare quotes by installed cost per Watt. There is a lot of knockoff solar equipment. Insist on name brand equipment- Enphase, SolarEdge, UniRac, Iron Ridge. Also make sure the installer is NABCEP certified and they are certified in all the equipment that they install

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
If a customer is considering solar, they should consider the direction their system will face. Solar works best facing South and not very well at all facing North or when it is shaded. Solar does not work when the electricity goes out unless you have batteries or special equipment, if you would like to have backup power during a power outage you should consider batteries.
