Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge for my time and sometimes usage, but in our business it always depends on the project. Food stylists, prop stylists, fashion stylists, additional crew, as well as location fees, studio fees, props, wardrobe and other production resources are additional. It's best to arrange a call to discuss the scope of the project.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Introduction call then creative brief>planning>scheduling>execution>electronic delivery.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
BA in Photojournalism, over 20 years experience as a commercial advertising and editorial photographer

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Started in High School, working on the yearbook.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Everything from Fortune 500 companies to small local businesses to magazines and even individuals needing headshots/executive portraits.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A food and lifestyle shoot for a restaurant chain. It was a 2 day shoot, with a food stylist, hair & makeup stylist and lots of talent. Both food and lifestyle images , great client, fun shoot!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at the photographer's work (portfolio) and look at their experience and talk to the photographer to make they're a good fit. What we do is subjective and you want to make sure everyone is on the same page.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have a definitive shot list. We can always take advantage of serendipity and deviate from it when appropriate, but having that document and being able to define what success looks like keeps the team focused on the ultimate goal.
