Introduction

I am a Houston event photographer who specializes in candid, photojournalistic-style photography. I use my candid shooting style to bring a family or organization’s story to life --people chatting and laughing, crying, singing, dancing, etc. One who tells the whole story, including all the little details, as if those not at the event were there themselves. I shoot everything from community and corporate events like banquets and conferences, to family events like birthday parties, engagement/proposals, small weddings, wedding showers, baby showers, engagement parties, and family reunions. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I'm very reasonable and am willing to work with you on the price.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My process is pretty simple. We'll chat so we can get to know each other better. Then, I'll ask you a few questions to fully understand what you'd like me to take pictures of and we'll negotiate a price.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a former journalist, where I shot photos (and video and wrote articles) for stories on a daily basis. Ever since then, I've continued to do photography on the side and I absolutely love it! For the past 4 years, I've had an ongoing with the YMCA of Greater Houston to shoot events for them throughout the year.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I took a photojournalism class in college and I loved it so much that I bought my own camera and used it while I was a journalist, and have continued to take photos of families and events ever since then. Having a family of my own has also inspired me to keep shooting photos as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with a variety of customers, ranging from families and churches, to non-profit organizations like YMCA of Greater Houston and Baker Ripley/Neighborhood Centers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently shot photos of the grand opening of a baseball field for physically and mentally disabled youth. Because of their limitations, these kids often don't have opportunities to participate in sports, but thanks to the YMCA, they have a field to play in. I loved shooting photos of the kids going up to bat and being guided to the bases by their "buddy." They'd get so excited when they'd hit the ball and touch the home base after making a home run. All the parents were so proud of their kids, and I was honored to shoot this event.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Take a look at their photos and see if the photographer's style is a good match for what you're looking for. Get to know the photographer and why they do it (make sure they really care about the customer and are not just doing it for the money), and have them send you everything in writing so that he/she understands your expectations.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

- How much does it cost? - What does this cost entail? - Tell them when you want them to be there and when they can leave. - When can you expect the photos? - How will you receive them (cloud storage site, CD, thumb drive, etc.) - How many photos will you receive, more or less?
