Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Simple jobs pricing typically has a photography / production component that covers the costs to produce the required imagery or video, a licensing component required to use the images in a particular way, and sales tax. Not all jobs require all three components... most require at least two. Complex bids are provided for more complex jobs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Jobs are typically arranged via here, text, and phone, with an estimate delivered via email when useful or needed. For an express headshot, we'll find a time convenient for you, determine any style requirements, and answer any pre-shoot questions. For commercial shoots, we'll start a conversation on the job, any budget, any timing requirements, and go from there!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My photography career began in engineering school, taking as many assignments for my college newspaper and yearbook as I could.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve shot a series of small business owners and artists coping with the COVID-19 pandemic that ran in Salt Lake Magazine, fashion images for a designer that imports alpaca fabrics from family farms in Peru and produces accessories in Salt Lake City, an ongoing portrait series for a local bakery on a national trajectory, and countless small business and corporate PR, event, and product engagements. The cover and lead article for the September 2021 issue of Tire Review Magazine is my photography. Just recently, I photographed the Western Governors' Association's Chair's Initiative event, hosted by Utah's Governor Spencer J. Cox.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I spent an hour backstage with Grammy-Award-winning band Black Uhuru, documented some green room antics, and produced some studio-quality press&promo images for them with only a few portable strobes, 20 mins and my skills.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
If you have a sec, consider what you want photographed, consider WHY you want those images or video, and consider HOW you might want to USE them. If nothing else got photographed, what would come first?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Nothing should stop you from talking to a professional, but the first part of the question just above this one could be helpful :)
