Rooted Photography & Studio Hi! I am Shawna! I am a passionate mother and creator who is driven by the constant practice of self-love and compassion. I value a loving community and untraditional ways of living life. Photography has been a part of my life for the past ten years, and I have had a few different relationships with this passion. I met this career as a contracted photographer in Pennsylvania, with a focus on female bodies and empowering those who were seeking. I then moved into freelance modeling, where I traveled nomadically for most of my 20s. Now, I call Portland, OR my home, where I am raising a beautiful daughter and dove back into my roots of photography. I truly enjoy spending time with my clients and am so honored for everyone who has allowed me into their space to capture a part of their life. I always strive to bring empathy and calmness so you can walk away from our shoot feeling confident in the time we spent together. I love adventures! I have a variety of locations I can provide. I also shoot film photography and love to incorporate that into my sessions.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing varies depending on what you are looking for and start at $250

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When starting with a new customer. I like to go over date/locations and the details of the session. I then require a 50% deposit to reserve the date and time.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a proud self taught photographer for almost 10 years. Photography has always been a passion and is now my full time career path. I've had mentors and helpers all along my journey.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started working as a photographer for a local woman's magazine as a photographer and coordinator. I also set up fashion shows from local clothing vendors.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with i feel every type and style of person over the years. Everywhere from children in Indonesia to large group families to self live sessions with individuals. I've been part of intimate spaces for elopements and alternative healing practices. I have and will continue to dive into all aspects of this human experience ✨️

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A recent project I have been a part of is a coastal elopement. I had captured this couples engagement and was lucky enough to capture thier wedding day. They had brought beautiful flowers and the outfits were just magical. I really felt like I was capturing a fairytale.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

make sure you are getting quality work! there are plenty of photographers who will charge less, there is a reason for that 😉

Does my style fit what you are looking for? Do we align on pricing?
