Introduction

My Story After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Herron Institute of Art, my career path started in a different direction, which actually helped me be a better photographer. I started my career as an art director with ad agencies working on national accounts (Capital One, Domino’s Pizza, etc.) and Fortune 500 corporations on the client side. I’ve art directed many photo shoots with nationally-recognized photographers, from NYC to LA, concepting the idea, presenting to the client, then supervising the photographer to capture the image consisting of products, food, fashion and editorial imagery, both still and video, allowing me to learn from the best. What I've learned from being an art director, is how to tell a visual story with imagery that is sensitive to the clients' needs. And I think that working collaboratively often yields the best results. I’ve taken that experience and put it behind the lens. What’s your story?

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My work is project-based- that way, my client is able to control costs. My proposal is always honored, unless the Scope of Work changes.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My process starts with an initial meeting to define the scope of work. Once the proposal is accepted, work begins. I also make sure that there are no surprises at the end of the project- unless the scope of work changes, the proposed price is what is billed. I also guarantee my work. Please call for more information.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Bachelor of fine arts degree, John Herron Art Institute/Indiana University, with photography and printmaking major. Plus, 25+ years art directing photo shoots for fortune 100 companies (Capital One, Domino's Pizza, etc.)

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My degree is in fine art, but discovered early that I enjoy telling a story, shaping light and capturing emotions with the immediacy of the moment. After art directing many photo shoots, I felt it was time to be more hands-on and use the post productions skills that I've learned over the years to create images that sometimes can't be accomplished in-camera.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with individuals starting a business, parties wishing to capture a moment, to Fortune 100 companies, like Capital One, Parker Pen, Dominos pizza, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Not an easy question to answer. My favorite project is usually the one that I'm working on currently. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes up to a full day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You get the best value by hiring someone who not only knows how to pound the nail, but more importantly, where to put it.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Clearly state the objectives, and budget, if available.
