Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is competitive and tailored to each client's specific needs. For bridal clients, I offer package discounts when booking for the bride plus multiple bridal party members. I also offer discounts for booking multiple services like engagement photos and wedding day makeup. Things like false lashes, airbrush makeup, and adding any additional people on the day-of are added fees. I'm happy to provide exact quotes for your specific service request. Please feel free to ask me any questions about pricing! My goal is to work within your budget while still delivering beautiful results.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first step is always an initial consultation, either in-person or virtual, to discuss your needs and preferences. This is where we'll review past makeup looks you've liked, your style, skin type, event details, and any specific requests. After we're on the same page about the look and approach, I'll provide you with a customized quote. Once booked, I recommend doing a trial run a few weeks prior for more complex services like bridal makeup. For the day-of, I'll arrive early to set up, go over any final requests, and then get started making you look amazing! My goal is open communication throughout the entire process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I hold a certificate in Makeup Artistry from the India. This intensive 1-year program focused on topics like color theory, facial features, product chemistry, sanitation, and developing technique. In addition to my initial training, I make it a priority to continually upgrade my skills and knowledge. I've completed advanced courses in airbrush makeup, prosthetic makeup, contouring, and more. I also regularly attend industry workshops and conventions to keep up with the latest trends and products. The majority of my education comes from real-world experience as well. I've been fortunate enough to work under and collaborate with exceptionally talented makeup artists on photoshoots, fashion shows, and celebrity events over the past 5+ years of my career. This has allowed me to expand my expertise across different specialty areas within the field. I'm truly passionate about the art of makeup and commit myself to delivering the highest quality services through comprehensive training and experience. Please let me know if you would like me to expand on any part of my background!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've always had a strong interest in beauty, art, and making people feel confident. Even from a young age I loved experimenting with makeup and helping friends get ready for big events. After high school, I decided to pursue my passion and enrolled in a cosmetology program focused on makeup artistry. During school, I soaked up as much knowledge as I could about products, tools, techniques, and how to work with different faces. I also took advantage of opportunities to practice my skills on models and customers at the program's salon. After earning my certification, I began working as an assistant to a well-known makeup artist which was such a valuable learning experience. Within a year, I had built up a portfolio and decided to start taking on my own clients. It's now been over 5 years since I started freelancing as a professional makeup artist. I genuinely love being able to use my creative talents to help clients look and feel their best. Getting to work with clients on their weddings, proms, photoshoots, and other special events is incredibly rewarding. I feel so fortunate to have been able to turn my passion into a career and can't wait to continue growing!

I recently had the honor of creating a glamorous bridal makeup look for Emily's dream wedding. With a focus on timeless elegance, I enhanced her natural beauty through flawless complexion, soft eye shades, winged eyeliner, and individual lashes. The result was a captivating transformation that perfectly matched her vision. By sharing this project on my Thumbtack profile, I aim to demonstrate my expertise in bridal makeup and my commitment to providing personalized, unforgettable looks. It was a privilege to contribute to Emily's special day, and I look forward to creating more magical experiences for brides-to-be.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Here are a few tips I would recommend when hiring a makeup artist: - Look at their portfolio and reviews to get a sense of their style and experience with different services. - Ask about the specific products and tools they use - high-quality cosmetics really make a difference. - Inquire about their training, certifications, and how long they've been working in the industry. - For weddings, be sure they have experience with bridal makeup specifically. A trial run is highly recommended. - Communication is key! Make sure you feel comfortable expressing your needs and vision to the artist. - Consider the timeframe needed and how many people they can work on. Will they stay for touch-ups? - Don't just go for the lowest rate - experience and skill is so important for this service. - See if they work on-location or have a salon space to get ready. - Make sure you understand their fees, deposits, cancelsation policies, etc.
