Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
- If they are a group, there will be a DISCOUNT on the price. - If you want me to travel to you, there are some additional fees.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always make sure to ask a lot of questions when it's a first time client to figure out their skin type (oily, dry, combination), i like to know also if they have any skin problems i should be aware of to use the best type of product i should use for them (skin acne, if they tend to break out i'll use a different formula of foundation, skin redness, etc...) I also make sure to know their tastes and preferences, while still making sure to use my professional judgement on what will suit their face. I like to see what will be the outfit worn with this make up to make sure of the type of make up i'll do and where i'll put the accent.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am basically self taught! I learned everything from youTube, beauty blogs, and masterclasses. I didn't do any make up school because I personally think what they teach are too general, and I was specific about my tastes concerning make up and what I wanted to learn. So, I've done a personal training of 60 hours with a famous French make up artist from Paris who has more than 33K followers, (@ merylgarcia) when I found out she was the one i wanted to learn from, and start again from the basics. I never stop learning on going to lots of masterclasses, reading beauty blogs and tips from talented confreres make up artists. As I like to say : "NEVER STOP LEARNING BECAUSE LIFE NEVER STOPS TEACHING".

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It was a passion since I was young and I practiced on any face I could get my hands on.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
• Celebrities (Ozuna , Nadine Abdelaziz aka the Lebanese Kardashian, French celebrities from reality shows, famous models during the Fashion week.) • Brides • Models (Photoshoot, fashion show, etc) • Regular client like you and I! We are all at the same rank! And whoever is the person, I always try my very best to make my client look gorgeous and happy of the result!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would advise you : *** 1) *** FIRST OF ALL : make sure the make up artist you're considering is aware of all the hygienic procedures by doing a client's make up (what is not always obvious. they need to sanitize their brushes between EVERY SINGLE clients, possess different sets of brushes, not using the products directly on your client's face in order to avoid bacterias and contamination) because you don't want to have some bad reactions a few days after your make up was done, due to some hygienic procedures. *** 2) *** Look at the previous pictures of the work this make up artist has already done. And if you don't find a similar make up as the one you would like in the pictures, talk to the make up artist to see if they understand what you would like and if you would trust him/her for doing this job for you. *** 3) *** Check if they have lots of different products. It will mean that they will have lots of option according to your skin type, skin color, etc, and won't use any random color not 100% appropriate to your skin color and undertones. *** 4) *** Ask your make up artist some advises by showing her/him the outfit worn for the occasion where you will need your make up, or giving the MUA the guidelines of your make up preferences, in order to check if the MUA is able to give some TASTEFUL advises and tips. According to your outfit, it's better sometimes to do a natural and light make up rather than an intense one, and vice versa.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1) If they have already done a project like this before. 2) If they feel CAPABLE and competent enough to realize this project. 3) What professional judgement does the MUA has with this project, what type of make up the MUA would see for this type of project. And COMMUNICATE to make sure that both parties are on the same wavelenght and understand the needs of the customer.
