Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I am a luxury makeup artist. I carry all different products for every skin color, age, & skin type. I use high end products to ensure the makeup beautiful, seamless & lasts all day. My prices do reflect the type of makeup I have & the amount of knowledge & training I offer in my services. I offer discounts for larger parties. If you are someone that consistently needs a makeup artist such as a photographer or certain type of client I also offer a discount as well.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I consult with each client first so we are on the same page, once we have agreed on the details I send them a Makeup Agreement. I require a no refundable deposit. Once that is done I discuss key elements and details about the makeup needed. However makeup depends on each persons unique features and what type of look they choose or specific needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a licensed makeup artist & esthetician. I am certified with both MAC & Sephora in lash application, artistry & color. I have attended Ecôle Lancôme, a week long intensive training course in makeup & skincare by Lancôme national & regional artists & instructors. I have also completed & earned numerous certificates in makeup classes including Color Theory, Mature Makeup & Bridal Makeup, Makeup for Photography. I have received certification from Brazilian Makeup instructor Helder Marucci In Graphic Liner, Bridal techniques, Brazilian contour & Smokey Eye techniques.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started out as a Makeup Artist with MAC Cosmetics. I absolutely loved it and knew right away this is exactly what I want to do!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
AMAZING CLIENTS!! In my line of business I have been fortunate to work with some of the best in the industry! From bridal parties, to proms, as well as political campaign ads, photographers and models. Some of my favorites are my clients who take lessons because they are either just discovering makeup or because they need a little guidance in finding what suits them or how to use their products. Watching them grow is so gratifying! I consider myself lucky to work alongside some truly inspirational and outstanding peers in the makeup industry!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently had a photo shoot in Miami. I met so many new people and the location was amazing.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Price does matter. Prices should not be outrageous but should not be too good to be true either. There IS a huge difference between new makeup artists and veterans makeup artists. Keep in mind our techniques, training & overall attention to detail makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE!! No matter what ask to see a portfolio or prior work!! Also look for pictures on previous clients with the same skin tone, age or texture as you! A good artist should be well rounded and have experience on all types of skin!!!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
