Introduction

Everyone has a skill. My forté is to bring about beauty in ALL people. I maximize your best features and minimize the not so loved ones if any, using makeup, color, texture, and tools. My decade plus of experience allows me to please clients with confidence. Everyone has a super power - facial enhancement through makeup artistry is MY special skill. I LOVE a challenge and give 110 percent to all my people (see reviews) From no makeup makeup, to midi natural, to super glam and everything in between. Airbrush, and various contour styles and lash application from to simple and chic, to dramatic and sultry, all available on request. I stay educated daily!….as I love what I do:)))) and…. I use high quality cosmetic lines. I also complete continuing education every 2 years to keep my esthetician license active. Ingredients I prioritize, and tools are equally important. (ie brushes!) I use the best! Seeking out the latest looks and products is IMPORTANT to all involved in all types of creativity based careers. One can never feel uninspired in this field. Inducing ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE in a person as a profession is very satisfying and the reason why I love this line of work! At College my major was Fine Art, a painter initially, over time, I have evolved into a better makeup artist as a result of this initial training I think. The canvas of the skin is more fun as always unique to each person. Additionally, I offer color consultation, that can be applied to both makeup, wardrobe and lifestyle. Tips to look your best with makeup or simply wearing your best colors: available (upon request.) Cosmetic lines I use are: Trish McEvoy, Chanel, Dior, Chantecaille, Cle de Peau, Bobbi Brown, MAD minerals, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Kajaer Weis, Tarte, KVD, MAC. But not limited too these lines. I am here to help you, and comfortable with the majority of skin types and struggles, from ALL shades and ages, lightest to deepest and mixtures in between welcome❤️. How can I help you?

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is comprehensive to my skill set and experience and appropriate for the geographical area. booking fee minimum in-studio makeup application per look is $100 per person. My service is priced fairly, so I do not offer additional discounts. I prepare for an hour prior to our appointment, and then clean, sanitize, and organize all the products again after the makeup session so pricing is conducive for the time before during and after the appointment. Offsite makeup requests are assessed on an individual basis and will require a contract, deposit, and travel fee depending on location.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
To help create the optimal look for individual clients, I start by asking several questions. Makeup is very personal and preferences can differentiate greatly, so the more I know about your lifestyle, skin type, makeup personality, and your comfort level with makeup in general, the easier it is for me to achieve the look that a person truly desires. It is of equal importance to design a look that suits the needs of the individual, or the brief that I have been tasked to accomplish. All people and faces have their own unique qualities. Questions will often relate to but not be limited to a client's particular likes and dislikes regarding products, colors, and texture. If the client has an example of a photo that they really liked how they looked in that image I will ask them to describe what exactly they liked about themselves and why. Additionally, I ask for guidelines from Pinterest or other online sources to get a visual of the type of look my client is looking to achieve. I then take this information and create a customized look by plugging in the information gathered and apply it to the person's features that I am working with. The hair type and color, skin type and undertones, eye color and shape, and age of the client. I also ask about the context of the setting where the client will be exposed. Understanding the lighting the photographer or Videographer will be working is imperative. Whether the event will be held indoors, outdoors, in-studio, on a runway, wedding, portrait portfolio photography, television, both, what time of year, what part of the country, etc. When a makeup artist understands and pays attention to the details, they can only then use their product, knowledgeable people, and application techniques to their highest potential. To create synergy with the client and team of professionals is always the goal.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am also a licensed esthetician, so I have knowledge regarding the skin and continue to participate in continuing education to keep that license active. Additionally, I am active in online training with other high-end cosmetic companies to stay current with product knowledge and makeup trends. I enjoy continuing to broaden my knowledge base in makeup artistry and all of my interests. I have experience working with tight schedules and high-pressure events such as providing makeup artistry for TV, video, and various in-studio and on-location photography settings. Before I started doing makeup, I had a background in Fine Art and a partial scholarship to the Ringling School of Art and Design.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
With a background in fine art and a love for connecting with people, I sometimes feel that the career picked me somehow, rather than it evolving as a conscious decision. I think we can learn so much from the perfection of life and nature in its varying forms with all its colors and textures. Over the years I have learned how to take a love of the arts on paper and canvas and translate it on to various faces. It's really pleasing to me to make a person feel fantastic with just a few brushes and ‘paints’. I try my best to adapt each look to my client's lifestyle, natural beauty, and personality type. It's a job that’s always changing which keeps it interesting for me, and I just keep loving it more and more as time unfolds.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I collaborated with a prominent health care company for both their employees and patients with clients of all different ages and colors, involving both men and women. I connected with some really smart and compassionate people that day. It took a full day to complete the project and required quite a bit of physical and emotional stamina, but it was so immensely satisfying to see the end result in the form of an advertising video.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Have an idea of the look you want to convey to the artist if need be. Use Pinterest or other visual examples if you are not a ‘go with the flow’ type, and have a really specific look you want to achieve. The better you can communicate what your expectation is the more likely you are to be pleased with the end results. I can create beautiful looks without visual aids of course and have done so on many occasions, it just depends on the personality type and job description at hand. Keep in mind that your face, age, and skin type is an original. Allow the professional to do what they do best if possible.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are you trying to achieve with the makeup, aside from obviously looking your best? This is about narrowing down a particular look. Ask yourself what is the goal? Think of some visual images that attracted you to stop and pay attention to a particular look, or something beautiful, then ask yourself why? What does that image in your imagination or otherwise portray to make you gel with it? What feelings does the image convey and how? Some examples are: innocence, freshness, warmth, romantic, dark, sexy, messy, chic, youthful, professional, glamorous, trustworthy, clean, What do you want to convey? What color palettes have a magnetic effect in your cosmetic and clothing wardrobe, if you aren’t sure a makeup artist can also guide you. Pinks, plums and cool tones, peach, creams nudes, bronzes, metallics, black, grey, taupes, neutrals, fuchsia, brights, classic red. Just some things to think about. Think about colors that you look your best in and know the undertone of your skin, (a makeup artist can help here...but it's good to know these things in general) Think about the textures of makeup you want for your face, cheeks, lips, and eyes. Do you want matte, glaze, shimmer, glitter, healthy glow, or a combination? For example, some clients prefer a pink nude lip with shine, others prefer matte with a deeper pigment like burgundy or red. Think about the context of the setting and what will look best in front of a camera if applicable. Your Linkedin profile may look entirely different from your wedding makeup, or maybe you just want the makeup to create the most honest depiction of yourself in all circumstances regardless. Makeup can enhance natural features or be totally transformative or somewhere in between. Ask yourself honestly where on the continuum you fall for this particular occasion, there is no right or wrong answer. Opinions may differ, but for your professional profile picture, or your wedding day, for example, opting for the most authentic version of yourself with the appropriate dose of glamour is usually a pretty good formula.
