What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I personally thank a new client and/or congratulate a Bride-to-Be for their interest in working with Nancy Bautista. Every lead is different and once I know what service a new client is looking for (Bridal, Airbrush, Photoshoot etc), I will send my availability and a detailed list of my services, pricing etc. Once the details of services are confirmed and we move forward with said date, we will proceed with a written contact that will list date, time, location deposits and more. An itinerary will be discussed so the hairstylist and I have a seamless flow so we can finish in a timely manner.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a self taught, but took a makeup certification training class to become a makeup artist. I have 12yrs of providing professional bridal makeup services and 11 years of airbrush makeup services. I completed the required hours for basic makeup artistry, proper sanitation, medical makeup application to get certified. I also took a separate, 8hour hands on training course for airbrush makeup application. I continue to take hands on training classes from other artist and celebrity makeup artist at trade shows, private events and online classes/courses.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Growing up I was always interested in fashion magazines. I would study every detail of the models look and try to recreate them on myself. In my teen years, I got a lot of practice as friends admired the way I did my own makeup and wanted theirs done for school dances. As the years passed, my passion for the art of makeup grew stronger. It wasn’t until 2011 that I enrolled at London Eyes Inc. and received my certification(s). I’m happy to say, that I have been working as an Airbrush Makeup Artist for 12yrs.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a variety of both men & woman ranging in many age groups & skin tones. This knowledge has allowed me to expand my skills to accommodate my brides, non brides, pageant contestants and everyone in between. Makeup is a one size fits all!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I am fond of ALL of my projects! Its not “work” if you LOVE what you do!! To me, this is very organic and it feels like hanging out with your besties while doing their makeup! “Do what you love, love what you do”

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I highly recommend any future client(s) to make a budget for Hair & Makeup Services and to research their portfolio before sending availability to any artist/stylist. We as makeup artist, have a trained eye to select products to compliment your features and to provide a flawless application. Keep in mind, you will be photographed throughout the day/night and you want to make sure you look fabulous in each photo. Questions to ask yourself. 1. Does the artist have pictures of makeup clients? Ask yourself this because a makeup artist should not show pictures of themselves in different makeup looks, but instead of their makeup clients. 2. Does the artist showcase various age groups, skin tones and a variety of looks you may be inquiring about? 3. Does the artist show the difference between regular foundation and airbrush looks? 4. Does the artist portfolio match your personality and your style? Communicate about the look you are trying to achieve. It is imperative that there is communication between client and artist.
