Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Typically I do not charge extra for traveling unless it is really very far or the makeup timing is either very early morning or pretty late in the evening. I do however offer some discounts at times since I am new to this website and would love to get new customers as much as possible.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always prefer to learn about the customer’s comfort level with makeup especially when it is the more glamorous and bold types. This helps establish the confidence level of the client for the end result. Secondly, it is also a big plus point to know of any skin related restrictions and I can definitely work around that.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a certified makeup artist from New York City. However, I do not keep my learning only to that, I keep attending workshops and seminars by the top makeup artists in the industry to keep tuning my skills with time.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My first introduction to heavy makeup was at the age of 6 or so as a dancer on stage. Ever since I have loved to experiment and do makeup on friends and family, until I decided to make it my profession sometime back. Today I love how one can totally create personalities with proper makeup and fashion.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with customers from many different ethnic origins, skin tones, facial structure, eye shapes and the likes of such. It is always fun to discover how unique things can be made for every individual and yet they all leave with the feel of an amazing experience and totally satisfied with their looks.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I did the makeup for a photoshoot that required Victorian period looks. It was a challenging yet an amazing experience since it was for a fashion designer and there was no scope for experiments. In spite of the less lighting conditions during the makeup, the results were terrific in front of the camera and I am really proud to have been a part of the project.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Most importantly I would advise to always have some extra time in hand, this helps you settle in with your new look comfortably and also gives both the makeup artist the scope to pop in anything extra if needed. Secondly, have faith in your makeup artist, sit back and relax like you would in a spa session; the experience will be awesome.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
First of all, if there is a specific look that you have in mind do a tad bit of research if possible to know how it would go with your skin tone, facial structure etc. Secondly, always feel free to have an honest discussion about any skin related issues or concerns that you might have and how would the makeup artist help resolve them so that the makeup is flawless and you feel amazing at the end. Last but not the least do consider beforehand the attire that you would wear for your event and talk about the intensity of grandeur of the event; these two play a huge role in deciding the type of makeup that would make you stand out.
