Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Please be clear about how many people are receiving services and take that into account for pricing. For example, $100 for 4 people is not realistic whatsoever. Also, if a job is far away and there is parking involved there are additional fees. I am extremely fair and will work with most people but this is a business. Please treat my career, industry and time with the same respect you would give any other working professional.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Getting an understanding of a client’s wants, their expectations and needs. Asking for how they want to feel, if they have images they like, colors they feel drawn to, what there ideal look is. Then I explain what I’m going to do and in some cases will show them as I work!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a trained fine artist and makeup artist currently working with Chanel. In addition to Chanel, I have worked with NARS, Dior, Chantecaille, Laura Mercier, Hourglass, La Mer, Urban Decay, Tarte, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Smashbox, and many others. I have been training and working in makeup for over a decade.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Studying art, consistently having to do my own makeup as a dancer and actress and being photographed. I wanted to continue my artistry but with makeup. I began working at makeup counters and constantly got requests for private clients. I’ve worked with several makeup companies and have loved every moment! My art training makes me a perfectionist when it comes to makeup application. Working with Nars and Chanel, in addition to Laura Mercier and Dior trained me to be the best makeup artist I can be for my clients.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Brides, bridesmaids/MOH, engagement shoots, maternity shoots, photo shoots, mother of the bride/groom, prom, weddings, wedding guests, Bat Mitzvah Girls, Sweet Sixteens, headshots, film, male grooming - most special events in which the clients were children, teens, young adults 20-30, Adults 30-75, Seniors 75 & up and entire families!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A bridal trial which was also the date of her big birthday party. The client and I worked together to find her perfect look for her wedding day as well as ensuring her makeup looked amazing and was bulletproof for her party! We both can’t wait for her upcoming wedding! ✨🌸

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at their work, ask them questions, look at who they work or have worked with. Don’t go by Instagram or if you do, know what to look for. An unfortunate reality is that so many pictures of women with their makeup done are in fact photoshopped and filtered to a point where they are barely recognizable. This sets a very unrealistic expectation for clients. I know that working and training with Dior, Laura Mercier, Nars, Chanel (among other companies) has made me truly understood the art of makeup and how to make each and everyone look their best. My kit is filled with brands such as Nars, Laura Mercier, MAC, Chantecaille, Bobbi Brown, Chanel and more! These are quality and pro-artist brands that ensure you look your best and your makeup stays on!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Does this artist have training. Who have they trained with and worked with. Don’t look for the least expensive artist, look for one that has training and experience. Ask the artists lots of questions. For example, an artist may not have a ton of pictures of a look you want but if they are trained well, they can do it. Ask them! I just had a client who before hiring me, asked if I could help her make her lips look a certain way. I was happy to provide pictures of before and after and explained the process. She hired me and it was a wonderful experience. For very important events such as a wedding, I suggest a trial first.
