Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I set my pricing to my experience and knowledge in the industry as well as my makeup kit. I have a good variety of products in my kit, including high-end products. I have a full set up including a makeup chairs, lighting (because you can never trust lighting), a portable table I bring everywhere because I never know the area I will be set up in will have. I am also big on sanitation and I make sure that I have plenty of disposables and my products are sanitized and ready for the next client. My pricing also includes me traveling to the client.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a self-taught make up artist who started with playing around with makeup on myself. I graduated from esthetics school in 2014 and decided to continue down the makeup artistry path instead because it was my passion. I got a job in the cosmetic retail world where I worked for 4 1/2 years and was a manager for 2 of those years. I worked with so many clients during this time and this is where I learned most of my artistry skills. In 2019, I went to Los Angeles, California to study more about special effects. I branched out on my own in 2019 and continued to learn from other local artist. I entered the TV and Film industry in 2021 and have worked on many Indie and feature films as of today.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with many clientele from 15-95 years of age. Every ethnicity and skin type/condition. I do 1x1 lessons, bridal, glam, and editorial. I work in the tv/film industry as well with many different actors specializing in beauty and special effects (SFX). Music videos, commercials, haunted houses, photo shoots and the list continues. I would consider myself a very versatile artist.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
To make sure they have wonderful communication skills with you as the client and photos of previous work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would say to think of what you are wanting your ending results to look like. There are so many ways you can go about makeup including a matte vs a glossy lip, neutral eye vs a smoky, matte or shimmer eyelids. Remember that everyone has difference face shapes, eye shapes, lip shapes, skin tones and skin conditions. So, the reference photos you may have might not be exactly how you pictured it on your face. Don’t be scared to ask questions because as professionals we are here to give you the answers and help you during this process.
