Introduction

I am a versatile, professional, and seasoned makeup artist with over 20 years experience across multiple sectors of the industry. As a former model, a licensed esthetician, and an adornments designer, I understand and apply the phenomenon of "beauty" from multiple angles! Whether I’m working on set with a whole crew, or with an individual seeking to look and feel their very best for an important event, I am dedicated to meeting or exceeding my clients’ expectations through the synergy of my creativity, technical skills, and refined taste—serving it up warm, with heart. I also offer hairstyling. More specifically, I do “dry styling,” which can be the use of hot tools and/or braiding/twisting/pinning etc. I don’t cut or color, or do blowouts (except in conjunction with dry styling if requested). Pricing varies, based on the total number of services requested and the desired style, as well as hair length and thickness.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is competitive, yet reflective of my years of experience…which means my rates may be a bit higher than many others. My makeup rates are mostly set, but my hairstyling rates vary more widely; I base that pricing on the amount of time I expect the work to take (which is influenced by hair length and texture, the intricacy of the style, etc.). As the number of services goes up, the price per service goes down somewhat. I also can be booked for a half day or full day. Just ask if your project better lends itself to those kinds of rates! You can expect to pay a fee for travel to any location that is more than 10 miles from my base location in southwest Austin. The fee is based on miles round-trip.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I ask lots of questions to ascertain their particular needs and preferences, the type of setting they are enlisting my services for, and any special concerns. Understanding what they don’t like is as informative as knowing what they do like, too. It’s helpful to receive images of looks they favor, Once the scope of the job is clear, I offer a price quote, provide my cancellation policy for them to agree to, take a deposit if applicable, and it’s booked!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As I spoke to in my “how I got started” answer, I had years of “passive training” via my work as a model—which not only gave me a window into what actually works, but also refined my aesthetic. I have an esthetician license (important for understanding skin and sanitation in makeup artistry!), have assisted and been mentored by senior artists, and have invested in educational workshops throughout my career to develop my skills.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In my previous career as a professional model (which spanned 28 years!), I got to experience the transformative magic of many top hair and makeup artists. My affinity for art and beauty had me observing their techniques and kits closely, which I later realized served as “passive training” that gave me a well-informed foundation when I started a gradual transition into my own makeup artistry career!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with high-profile people including models, actors, tv hosts, famous figures and musicians. I’ve also worked with brides, bridal parties, and all manner of those one would consider not “professional pretty people” as well. Everyone, no matter where they’re from or what they do, deserves to experience feeling their most polished and confident for the most important moments in their lives!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I’m honestly fond of any project that has me working with heart-centered happy people who appreciate my conscientious attention to detail and gentle nature. I love being part of a creative team!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
In my opinion and experience, the best artists have worked in multiple areas of the industry and apply their collected knowledge to clients’ particular circumstances with a wealth of understanding. Pay attention to reviews, and of course look for examples of their work that feature a diversity of client types, especially those similar to your age range and coloring. Their rates should be appropriate for their depth of expertise and years in their role.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
