What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a licensed hairstylist and have taken professional training in makeup. I worked for six years for L'Oreal Professionnel as a member of the National Styling Team in New York. I have worked runway shows and styled for editorial photoshoots, and special events, including countless weddings. Not to mention the thousands of clients I have styled in my studio salon. I love what I do!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always loved hair and makeup. My mother was a fashionista in her day while living in Hong Kong and she set the tone of beauty being an art form. As well, growing up with four older sisters, three of whom were very much into makeup, hair, and the latest styles, I couldn't escape the allure. I chose beauty at an early age, and I have been fortunate to study and work with some of the most talented artists in my field.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently styled an Oakland wedding party of four, plus the bride. We had a great time, and the bride was very happy. We prepped for four hours. This is what she said, "I hired Rebecca to style my hair and the hair of my bridesmaids for my wedding! Rebecca was honest, professional, and thoughtful. I had done a few hair trials with other stylists and was not satisfied. After having my trial with Rebecca, I had come to the conclusion that the other stylists were not being honest with what could be done with my hair, therefore leading to a look I did not like. "Rebecca listened to what I said, gave honest feedback, and then was able to style my hair beautifully for my wedding! She also took the time to listen to my bridesmaids' wants for their styling."
