Introduction

We are a local family business moving, tuning and restoring pianos for over 40 years. We are fully insured and have been members of the national piano technician's guild for over 25 years. We carry a large inventory of new and original parts for most American, Asian and European models. We do not charge for minor repairs/adjustments like a sticky key or two. If this quote is for a piano move, we offer a discount on a tuning. Our goal at Loiselle Pianos is to give you reliable service at a reasonable rate. Best, Tony Owner/operator Loisellepianos.com My family loves bringing pianos and people together. Sometimes that means bringing a piano back to life for a young player, a new player or for those wanting to begin again. Sometimes that means moving a piano from one family to another (this happens fairly regularly) to keep the music going. When we leave a house or school or church and hear the piano being played, we know we did something right.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We have a standard fee which includes minor repairs. We don’t charge customers extra if we can complete repairs while tuning. Often sticky keys and pedal issues fall into this category.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. What are the customer’s goals with the piano 2. What is the condition of the piano 3. If more than a tuning is needed, we create a priority list based on desire and budget 4. Follow up with client for servicing and teaching (if the customer needs networking for an instructor)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We are members of the piano technicians guild and have been since the 1970s. All training has been through apprenticing.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Loiselle pianos is a family business. We’ve been around pianos pretty much all my life.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with lots of parents, churches, restaurants, nursing homes, schools, and professionals who used to play the piano and want to start again or have always wanted to play the piano. Over the past five years or so, we've helped a lot of people find pianos on Craigslist. Then we move the piano, make any repairs, tune and offer support in finding piano teachers, music etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A younger couple recently received a piano from the husband's grandmother. She had played it since she had been a girl. Her father (the couple's great grandfather) had purchased it new in Providence. We refurbished the piano so that a third-and possibly fourth-generation could continue enjoying the family heirloom.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask lots of questions and, if further repairs are necessary, ask about the process. Often not all repairs need be done immediately. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you want to sit at the piano and play.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Beyond any immediate repair questions, customers should ask about the stability of their piano to hold the tuning. How often should it be tuned and what is the best location in the house (to avoid dampness and overly dry conditions) to preserve a tuning for as long as possible.
