Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Local moves are billed by the hour and are priced based on your crew size. Crew sizes range from 2 men to 8. Long distance moves over 36 miles are billed by the pound. Every move has a travel fee that is based on what city you currently live in to the city you're moving to.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1- We send a general quote 2- Determine if an onsite estimate is required for your move- most can be priced just with us discussing the details (fitness equipment, appliances, and pianos as well as similar items have an additional handling fee) 3- We schedule your move and save the date in our books

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have over 23 years of experience in the moving industry. Every member of our staff attends the Utilities Commission training to learn the most updated policies and regulations.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Started working for a moving company when I was 20 years old. Just a young kid looking for a summer job. I quickly found out that not everyone is cut out for this type of work. It's hard work. It takes stamina, patience and most importantly good work ethic. I also learned that it was something that I was good at and saw that I could reduce the stress level people had during this major life event.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One of our crews were driving down the road and saw two women with a broken down car. Our movers stopped and helped move the Jeep out of rush hour traffic. About two months later, one of the women called us and scheduled her move because she knew she could completely trust our team and we go out of our way to do the right thing. The same crew that helped move her Jeep was the same team that went to move her belongings and she was so happy to see them again!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Please make sure you are verifying the licensing of the company you are thinking of hiring. Don't just go for the least expensive quotes. Companies that are quoting very low prices generally aren't experienced, don't have the right equipment, and/or they aren't insured. It's possible they also have hidden fees and aren't settings the right expectations upfront. Ask if there are any other charges you should be aware of so you aren't surprised with the bill.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have a realistic expectation about the time it's going to take to complete the move. Think about how many items will need to be taken apart by the movers. (beds, taking mirrors out of the dressers to pack them, so on) Are you going to have children or pets in your home when the movers will be there? (since that will slow the mover's progress)
