Sky Van Lines includes the following with NO additional charges: FREE wrapping of mattresses, box springs, furniture and vacuum with moving blankets Up to 30 days of FREE climate controlled storage beginning the day of pickup Unlimited FREE wrapping tape to be used to secure your goods. 1. Professional Door to Door service. 2. Complete itemized numerical inventory 3. Loading and unloading of all items. Disassembly, reassembly, and placement of all furniture upon delivery. 4. Fully quilted padding & wrapping of all furniture 5. Cargo insurance coverage up to $100,000 based on 60 cents per lbs per article. 6. Full coverage insurance is available, upon request (72 hours notice required before the day of the move). 7. Taxes & tolls 8. Fuel surcharges, mileage and transportation fees. 9. We are certified through the America Moving and Storage Association. All Sky Van Lines employees go through ethics and customer service training in order to handle residential, commercial relocation's.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was brought into the business by a friend of mine 8 years ago and I never changed careers. This is a great fast pace industry with multiple moving parts. It's a great industry if you like people and hard physical labor.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We specialize in Long Distance relocating that includes residential, commercial and office moves. 90% of all our moves are residential personal relocating.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

During this time of year most of our re-locations are large size homes ranging from three up to six bedrooms. My last large move we just completed involved a fully packed 18 wheeler, 53' foot trailer. We ended up doing a full packing job along with loading trailer. The move started 8am and with a crew size of six men we were able to complete the job the same day. More importantly the best part of this relocation was the delivery time frame to Florida. We arrived in Florida from the day of pickup within three business days. In most cases it takes a bit longer for delivery depending on when the client is ready to receive there property.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The most important thing for a consumer looking for a reputable moving company is to have them (moving companies) come out and check the shipment. In most cases dealing with a smaller amount of items to ship can be done over the phone. However, for accuracy in terms of pricing and space must be done in person. Having a certified in-home, on-site, visual estimator can eliminate most if not all of the gray area in terms of cost and services.

HOW TO CHOOSE A MOVING COMPANY Choosing a professional moving and storage company can be overwhelming. Here are some questions that you should ask your prospective moving companies. Is your moving company licensed and insured? It's really important when choosing a moving company to make sure they are a licensed and insured. If not, the security of your move could be jeopardized. Broker VS Moving Company. What's the difference and why does it matter? Moving brokers are simply call centers with sales teams that book moving jobs and then sell those jobs to actual moving companies. Brokers do not have the moving operational or logistics capabilities that moving companies have. They do not have moving trucks, professional movers, moving equipment, or, in a lot of cases, much experience with moving. Also, they will sell your job to ANY moving company, even one without experience or with a bad reputation. To make sure you're not dealing with a moving broker ask for the moving company's DOT number and look the company up on the internet. How will your company protect my furniture? This is the most important question to ask your moving company! Unlike other moving companies we take our job very seriously and we make sure to inspect your furniture before and after the delivery to your new house. We will pad all the furniture with moving quilts and make sure that they are covered, taped, and safe to be shipped to your new house. We will make sure that all of your fragile items are covered and packaged in the safest way. Should I get an in-home estimate or a phone quote? If you are moving from a one bedroom apartment a phone quote is a fast and accurate way to go. If you are moving from anything larger than a one bedroom apartment you should have a professional perform an in-home estimate. All the moving companies must offer their customers that option free of charge. An in home estimate is when a moving company sends out a relocation consultant to the customer's house who goes room by room making a list of items that need to be shipped as well as a list of items that need packing and/or crating. He then gives the customer a final, binding price for his move! You only want to go with companies that give you the option of a free in-home moving estimate for several reasons: A face to face meeting with your moving consultant can tell you a lot about a company and let you get to know who you're working with on a more personal level.​It gives you an opportunity to explain which items you are moving and which are not. You can receive immediate answers to any questions you might have as well as get information that our estimator will offer you about your move. It allows for a more realistic picture of your moving expenses. You will receive a written moving quote with a list of services. It allows you to compare written moving estimates from different companies.
