Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer flat-rate pricing. No surprises. You'll know the cost upfront.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
At your piano's first service, I take the time to evaluate the instrument as a whole, checking all the systems and components. If I find anything that needs to be addressed, we'll discuss the best solution and move forward together.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a certified piano technician, a certified dealer and installer for the Piano Life Saver system, and a QRS-certified installer and service technician.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Over sixty years ago my grandfather began restoring player pianos. I grew up watching him work, and as I got older was able to spend time helping in his shop. It is an honor to take up his trade and carry it into the next generation.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We service and restore pianos that have been in families for generations. We also provide service for retail locations, businesses, venues, and professional musicians.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My most recent restoration was a century-old upright piano that was purchased new by the customer's grandparents. It has stayed with the family ever since, seeing generations learn the joys of music on its keys. I was privileged to completely restore the piano action, and get this heirloom ready for his granddaughter to carry the legacy forward.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Your piano is so much more than a piece of furniture. It is a delicate musical instrument. It is an heirloom. It represents generations of memories. Ask about experience and certifications. Ask for references. A cheap or inexperienced piano technician can end up being rather costly.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is my piano worth to me? Is it just a piano, or is it more than that? How long do I plan to keep it in my home? Will I (or my children) be able to truly learn and enjoy music if my piano is not properly maintained?
