What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The most successful projects start with transparency and clarity. What are your expectations of the project? Are there any potential challenges? At the start of all painting projects we introduce our selves to you the homeowner and then we go over the entire scope of work with you to make sure we are efficient and minimize disruption to your daily lives, routines, and home. Once we begin a project we are there from start to finish without delay.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have been kicking around building sites since I was a young boy. My family owned a general contracting building company which started in the 1930s, so it is all I ever known. My grandfather was a sign writer and painter originally then moved into general contracting with his brother. I started painting in England at the age of 17 when my father showed me the ropes. We worked together for around 8 years before I went out on my own. Moving to America I realized that there were still a lot to learn. I spent over 12 years learning building methods, products and materials before opening my own business here in the Monterey peninsula.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Try to find someone that truly cares about your home. Across the board most painters have roughly the same pricing so you could pay top dollar for mediocre work. The professional painter will do all of the steps properly which means more time. This is why the estimate or final cost is greater. Beware of hiring people that say they can paint for cheap. I've seen so many people pay a lot more money to correct the work when it fails.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Be sure to consider the following before hiring a painting contractor. Have clear expectations. Before you call a painter to get an estimate, think about your schedule and end goal. When putting together an estimate, painters will want to know what colors you have in mind, finishes you prefer, and if you want a specific brand of paint.
