Introduction

My name is Craig and I run a small, local, family owned business. I have 26 years and 2000+ jobs into my career. I do all types of interior and exterior work on residential properties, from small to large projects. I typically focus on kitchen/bath remodels as well as painting interiors and exteriors, but can and have done it all.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
With lower overhead than larger companies as a small family owned business typically we can save you some money over our competitors- but that doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. Also, anyone who has honorably served in any of the United States Armed Forces (current/honorably discharged/retired/DoD) as well as First Responders gets a 10% discount as our way of thanking you for your service to our great country. When you get the price we’ll ask or you can mention it then and have it applied. Estimates are always free (yes, even though we pay for the leads here on Thumbtack).

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Meeting with them to look at the project and discuss what they’re looking for. Offering options to meet their needs. Providing a “hard quote” estimate that won’t change on them later, provided the project scope stays the same. Giving them a realistic timeline they can count on. Treating them like family throughout the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
General contacting apprentice before working my way up to running my own jobs for 20+ years. When my uncle passed I started out on my own with a lot of knowledge

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Started doing remodeling with my uncle summers during high school, and went full time after 2 semesters in college. (Not a classroom kind of guy). Sadly he passed away. I’ve picked up the torch and am trying to keep his legacy alive through my company.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
ALL types of Residential homeowners and property managers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Complete remodel on interior of a home that was vacant, run-down, and in very bad condition. Squatters had been there and stole all the copper plumbing. Working with my collective of industry pros we replaced all the plumbing, installed a new furnace, I did a new kitchen and bath, and interior paint. Took us 3 weeks and it looks great! Exterior is next.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Speak with several providers, ask how long they have been in the industry, and ask them to show you photos of their work. Don’t shop strictly on price. Remember, when was the last time you bought the absolute cheapest item possible and were completely happy with it? Doesn’t have to be the most expensive, but quality work should be in the middle. What kind of warranty is offered, how long, and can they guarantee to stand behind it? We do for as long as you own the home!! (transferable once if sold within 3 years)

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are their goals / what needs to be accomplished? What is their comfortable budget? What is their timeline?
