Introduction

In addition to providing excellent interior house painting services with efficiency, a professional attitude, and at a fair price, I have an MFA in Fine Art from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NYC. So if you want something done on the creative side - A mural for a kid's room, faux painting, etc. - I can do that sort of work as well. I love to paint! I also love moving fast; it is in my nature. I "eat lunch on the ladder" and I don't mind working a full day without much of a break - so you can have your home back and get on with your life and I can get on to the next project!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
This is a field where you definitely get what you pay for. I see clients who hire me and tell me that the thought they were getting a good deal when a painter low balled the job... but then realized the reason it was cheap was because they got paint on everything but the walls. Conversely, taking out a second mortgage on your home and paying an arm and a leg for a painter doesn't mean they'll do excellent work.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Communicating needs and expectations is crucial. There is only so far filling out a form can get you. I need to hear you and ideally see the project in person so we can have a true understanding in order to be of quality service. For me, it's all about the relationship. Each relationship dictates a different process. I work organically. Each project is a puzzle and the process of painting, the steps involved can be rearranged and edited to suit the needs and preferences of the customer.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Masters degree in Fine art from one of the best schools in the world, Pratt Institute. I've worked for some 20 different artists, which has greatly increased my skill set, my "tool box", and my perspective. I've worked with master woodworkers and cabinet makers, I've done various construction work... so I can understand and apply multiple processes and put that knowledge to work for you, even if I'm just painting a wall or two. I have a better sense of what it takes to get things done, what to expect on a job site, how to work with other professionals (or unprofessionals), and how to deal with the unexpected (and when it comes to homes, the unexpected should always be expected)

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Well, I'm an artist. Early on, I took all kinds of work to get by, so I developed a jack of all trades lifestyle and it has benefitted me greatly. Eventually, I found that Painting interiors was my sweet spot. It allows me the time and space I need to pursue my vocation and still pay the rent.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds. I can and have worked with pretty much every personality type you can imagine. I am sort of reverse interviewing potential customers when I go to see a job and have learned how to read people fairly well. Not to say I am judgmental, but I can spot a tornado when I see one and have learned to trust myself. If you like the work I do and feel confident hiring me after having met with me and I agree to take on the work, you can bet that I have confidence in the burgeoning relationship and am working with the future in mind.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
The projects that I am most fond of are the ones that I cruise through. I often set my timer to see how fast I can get a job done. Conditions always vary (furniture, wall hangings, architecture, physically, mentally, etc) But I did a solo job once that had five rooms at 14 feet high plus two bathrooms... I did all the walls, trim, doors, and window frames in under 36 hours. I also love love love painting for families. Doing a mural for a kid's room is absolute magic. Anybody looking for a new/fresh start, People who are stuck and looking to transition their lives to a better place. It is humbling and an honor to help people bring their visions into form.
