What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We are very competitively priced and are Sherwin-Williams certified. You can expect top quality paint, and top quality painters. We offer free estimates, free color consultations, and some discounts at various times of the year. Due to a very tight schedule and heavy demand, from March until September our minimum job size is $2000. We are the home of the 5 YEAR TOUCH UP WARRANTY* - the first and original in the Columbus, OH area!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Our process begins with initial contact and a brief discussion to understand the scope of your project. From there we work with you to schedule a convenient time where we can come assess your project space, take precise measurements, assess surface conditions, answer any questions you may have and, in most instances, provide you a price to the penny, on the spot. We will then email you a written estimate (usually same day) for your review. If you would like to move forward with us, we will agree on a date that would be convenient to have us begin your project. Our Project Manager will arrive with the painters on the scheduled day, walk the space with you to confirm the project scope and ensure the right colors and products have been selected. Our Project Manager will visit on a routine basis to check in with you and the painters to ensure your satisfaction during the project. Once the project is complete, we will perform a quality assessment. Any spots which do not meet our quality standards will be marked, and the painters will follow behind us to perform the proper touch-ups. Only once we feel the project is ready will we engage you to perform the same walk with us and confirm your satisfaction. If during this walkthrough you find any area of concern, we will be ready to rectify it. We treat every customers home as though it were our own. We also strive to meet or exceed your expectations. We understand that painting is not an inexpensive undertaking, and the results will be with you for years to come. With that in mind, quality and customer satisfaction are our #1 driving force. We will work to make every job right and we will not leave until you're satisfied. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Painter1 of Columbus provides extensive training for all of our employees. Painting is a learned tradecraft, and we pride ourselves on working with our vendors, such as Sherwin Williams, to stay on top of new products and applications trends - as well as relying on to our tried and true techniques that have created a wake of beautiful projects in our past. As professional painters, our goal is to use color to make your space inviting and comfortable for you and yours.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

We've been a part of the local Columbus community for many years. Our families are from different backgrounds but brought us together at Painter1 of Columbus when our owner, Patrick Dial, was laid off from his corporate job in sales and marketing and went back to his roots that he learned in college. With an unmatched work ethic and a will to have something he could pass down to his daughter, Patrick created the company with pride and determination from the ground up.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential homeowners, commercial clients, HOA’s, property managers, facilities managers, interior designers, window manufacturers, general contractors, roofing companies, retail businesses. We mainly work with homeowners, but we’ve painted all kinds of interesting projects!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We are generally available to paint within two weeks of your signed agreement year round. A recent project we loved was painting for a mega church in Westerville - the pastor needed the bell tower and interior offices redone, as well as the walls and 32’ tall ceiling in the sanctuary that is over 100 years old. We also painted the entire altar, a kitchen facility and a very large congregation gathering space. This project took over two weeks, and we were able to provide a schedule that allowed for unimpeded worship on Sundays.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please make sure every company is fully insured, provides a significant warranty of their work and that they care about your safety and their workers safety. Painters come in all forms from a single person in a truck to a professional company with many paint crews. This trade is one where you generally get what you pay for - so if the lowest price is what you’re after, that is usually the result you will receive.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

When will I be ready to start the project? Do I need a color consultation or am I set on the color scheme? What grade of paint do I want used? Do I understand the grades of paint and types of sheen available? Does the company have any references in my neighborhood? Am I more concerned with the price or the value of the service I receive? How quickly do I need the work to begin once I’m ready? What would make me most comfortable with a company; transparent communication, speed of work, quality of work, professionalism, quality of reviews?
