Introduction

I have been a full-time mural painter for 20 years. I work in a variety of different styles and can accomplish very large three story building facades on down to small accent walls. I am properly licensed and insured, with current clearances to work in any commercial or public school job site. I enjoy finding out exactly what the customer wants, and executing it to their satisfaction. I also use only high-quality materials that stand the test of time. I am currently not accepting Memorial portrait mural projects from the city of Philadelphia, as Philadelphia mural arts can accomplish those with the help of government funding. I am also currently not accepting Temporary window painting projects, I tend to want my work to last and stand the test of time.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Based on style/complexity, size, distance of travel, and equipment rental needs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I usually need to know the location, size of the image area, what subject matter, style (photo-realism vs. cartoon) and for out door projects I need to know if scaffolding or a lift is needed, etc. Interfacing with the client to ask questions is very important to give an accurate quote.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a degree in fine arts with a painting concentration, and graphic design. I feel learning art history was very beneficial in my work today.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Coming from a family of artists, I started young, doing commission work in grade school and I did my first professional mural in a home when I was 15.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with many homeowners, business owners, interior design firms, doctors and hospital administrators, etc. I have also had whole towns hire me to paint large scale building murals. I also do many public school projects as an artist in residence.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I enjoyed painting a large sensory room for a memory care facility caring for Alzheimer patients. I painted local landmarks and landscapes. A water feature and sound effects were added by the by interior design firm to bring the outside in. It took a week to complete, including the ceiling painted with a day sky.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the artist has a large and varied portfolio, and can give you a price up front after the design has been finalized.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should be prepared to email, text or even call and discuss their project with the artist so she can get a better feel for the scope of a project before expecting a quote for custom artwork. A lot of the time the artist can help the customer think through the aspects of a design, but it requires communication.
