Introduction

I have been working as an artist for over two decades. After moving from New York to Nashville four years ago, my work can be seen in both cities, mostly in homes, restaurants, and Airbnb's. My work is very expressive and colorful with influences from Impressionism, African Sculpture, Fish-eye Photography, Graffiti, Calligraphy, and more. I specialize in urban landscapes/skylines and music related art. I enjoy using my creativity as a way to help people get their message across in a new and innovative way.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing for my illustration is gauged by its purpose/use, project budget, and my time & materials that go into the project. I work with each client to reach a price we both understand and are happy with.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After listening to/reading what the customer envisions, I do preliminary sketches based on what I understand, then go over them together to point out what they like and would like to change. Depending on the feedback, I either go to the final illustration(s) or to another round of more developed sketches if needed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Communication Design, major in Illustration, from Pratt Institute.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

In high school I was always drawing pictures and the guy to go to for doing book covers and all kinds of design. I started doing illustrations for a small publication and decided to study illustration & graphic design in college.

What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common jobs I do for clients are commissioned paintings, murals, books, and portraits. I've also done all kinds of graphic design, such as logos, album covers, flyers, brochures, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently illustrated a book that a customer wrote. It was great going over what he wanted from sketches to final. I also did a series of murals where the customer knew what they wanted but also allowed me the space to do my interpretation and style. We were all very happy with the result.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not yet sure about what you want.
