I've been painting for 22 years. I specialize in high quality interior painting and have a degree in Studio Art with my focus on painting from Texas State University. I take pride in being detail-oriented, clean and thorough with every job I do. I'm an artist when I'm not painting houses. My experience with seeing the details in art has led me to catch the details that many painters seem to miss. I often get hired to fix a previous painters bad work! I have a thorough knowledge of painting products that will fit your needs. I'm also very experienced with decorative painting (i.e. - faux-finishes, stencil work, wood imitation, distressing, furniture painting, etc.) I'm available for residential and commercial properties. I've helped hundreds of customers from Buda to Round Rock transform the atmosphere of their spaces with hundreds of happy customers. It makes me happy to make a customer happy when I finish a job. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I price fairly depending on the amount of time and work that needs to go into a certain project. There are several factors that go into each job. Moving furniture, priming, patching, sanding, taping, cleaning and other preparation. Every job is unique in it's own way depending on how much work is needed to complete it. I have a thorough understanding of what needs to be done before I start so I'm able to gauge how much time it will take and how to quote a job after I see it.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new customer I like to meet them at the job site to discuss what they would like painted. I can usually give a quote at the time of the initial meet-up, but sometimes I need to work on extra factors like hired help, cost of supplies, etc. After discussing the quote and we agree upon it I work out any extra details after that.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BFA in Studio Art with my focus on painting from Texas State University. I'm an artist. I began painting homes in 2002 because I was interested in decorative painting (faux-finishes, murals, stencil work, furniture painting, etc.) I worked with a company in Houston, TX that was thoroughly trained in the art of decorative painting where I learned how to fine tune my craft. When I moved to Austin I got into regular interior painting and still do occasional decorative work. I work independently and also work for various carpenters, real-estate agents, builders and one 5 star painting company.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I typically work directly with homeowners and the occasional renter. I have also done commercial painting and work with building managers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently did a mural on a customers ceiling of outer space. It was different and unique. Most people don't want murals like that on their ceiling. It turned out really well and my customer was happy. It took 3 days to complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First, check their reviews. If you find a potential provider, ask them how much experience they have. Look at pictures of their past work. Have a conversation with them about the step by step process of the work, how long it will take, have a color consultation if needed, discuss the payment process and make sure there is a mutual understanding of all aspects of the project.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

First, it's best to think of what colors you want before you start your project. If you don't know, then a color consultation could be of great use. - How long have you been painting? - Do you have reviews? - Do you have pictures of your work? - What is your painting crew like? - Will you be protecting floors, valuables, etc.? - Cost? - How long will this take? - When and how do I pay you?
