*****Please be advised, I would love to cook for you, However, thumbtack does not have the ability to set minimums. Please do not solicit a bid from me for smaller groups. My minimum is $1000 during the week (sun-wednesday) and $1500 (thurs-sat). Thanks for understanding. By all means, if you are close, don't hesitate, I may be available. That being said, 6-10 people is mostly fine. Just not for $50. If there are nine of you, in the $100 range, especially during the week, it might work. I have been a chef for 29 years, 25 of which were in fine dining establishments, including my own for 15 years. Since closing my restaurants, I have been working as a private chef for small to medium events in peoples homes. I have also passed the first 2 levels of the sommelier exam, and am well suited to pair with your collection, including any of your special bottles. People have been inviting me into their homes for 5 years now, and work every weekend from October thru April. I usually book about 6-8 weeks in advance. ****Included in my fees are all tabletop needs (plates, glasses, silverware, linens) and generally come 100% self contained. (I even bring my own pots, pans, cleaning gear, garbage bags, etc) Depending on size, guest count, course count, etc, up to about 20ish people. I do not have tables and chairs.**** *******I frequently work in Airbnb's and can manage my way around most kitchens at this point.***********

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I create custom in home experiences to your preference. I price your occasion after we discuss what you would like for a menu. Every occasion is different and special!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Generally i like to begin with an email or phone discussion and get answers to some basic questions. I like to turn proposals around quickly, however I work quite a bit on weekends, and almost always take Mondays off.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a fine dining chef for 29 years, and 5 in peoples homes. I am a level 2 sommelier, (I love to "Study"). I have cooked at the James Beard House in New York City on 4 occasions, and have been named "Best New Restaurant (POSH) and Best New Chef, as well as Best Chef by the Arizona Republic and Phoenix New Times.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I generally work for people who love food, wine, and more unique experiences, and also frequently for people who prefer discretion, and enjoy the privacy of dining and having their occasions in home, as opposed to in public. (This includes athletes, politicians, and celebrities, but out of respect for privacy, I do not divulge whom I work for. Everyone is entitled to their privacy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Think about your budget ahead of time and be aware, having a private chef come to your home is no where near the same as a restaurant, therefore pricing is different as well. You are paying for our time more than for the food, where as in a restaurant the labor is divided amongst the 300 other people eating there at any given time, so its an insignificant part of the cost of your meal.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Be honest about your budget. If you are able to get any dislikes, allergies, or dietary restrictions before hand, we can respond more quickly with better information. Please let me know if there is a special occasion we can help celebrate. I am happy to help with rentals if they are required for your event. I have your table top covered for most occasions, however larger occasions may require some rentals, which will intern require delivery access to your location a day or two in advance, and possibly after as well.
