What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The home meal replacement service is priced with a fixed service fee (determined before services begin) plus a variable food cost fee (depending upon the menu and ingredient preferences).

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I meet with the client in their home to review their dietary restrictions and food preferences. Based on that information, I will advise them of the fixed service fee and give them an estimate of food cost for the service. If they decide to try the service, we will set up the first cook date. I will then shop for the food, bring all of my equipment and utensils along with the food to their home, prepare and package the meals and leave detailed reheating instructions. I will then clean up and leave a proposed menu for the next service.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I possess a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of Central Florida and a culinary diploma from AIMS Academy in Dallas. I became a personal chef in 1999 and have been a Certified Personal Chef since 2001. I also have my ServSafe certification.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have been cooking for most of my life and after a short and unsatisfying career in the business world, I decided to do something I enjoyed - cooking for others.

What types of customers have you worked with?

The families I provide meals for do not have the time and/or desire to cook dinners. My services free them up to devote their time and energy to their families, careers and other activities.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Take the time in the beginning to bring in a personal chef that you are comfortable with and it will end up saving you time and inconvenience in the future. Make sure that all of your questions are answered and concerns are alleviated before entrusting someone to cook for you and your family on a regular basis.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Have a solid idea of your budget and know what exactly you are wanting out of the service.
