Introduction

I have been handling personal injury cases, including automobile accident claims, slip and fall cases, and professional negligence claims, for over 30 years. I have personally handled thousands of injury cases, recovering tens of millions of dollars for my clients. I have been recognized numerous times by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the area's top lawyers; the magazine described me as "among Washington's best - most honest and effective - lawyers who sue" and called me "one of the area's most respected and sought-after legal minds." Additionally, readers (other lawyers) of The National Law Journal/Legal Times have consistently ranked my firm as one of the top personal injury firms in the area. I handle all of my files personally. When clients call my office to discuss their cases, I speak to you rather than a paralegal or legal assistant. I most enjoy helping my clients navigate their injury claims to a successful conclusion.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Essentially all personal injury attorneys are paid on a contingent basis; meaning, if there is no recovery, there is no fee. The industry standard is 1/3 (or 33.33%) of the gross recovery if the case is settled prior to litigation, and 40% of the recovery if the case is litigated. I reduce my fee by 20% for clients who come to by way of Thumbtack, for any case that I settle without the need to litigate the case.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Although I prefer to meet with my new clients in person, I am aware that people are busy and that meeting in person is not always convenient. With that in mind, I am happy to, at least initially, set up everything over the phone and via email. If a client is unable to travel, I may be able to visit the client in person.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Of course, I have a law degree, plus over 27 years of experience handling personal injury cases.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My father practiced personal injury law for over 40 years before retiring in 1996.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
My clients are victims of someone else's negligence.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Although all cases vary, I can often resolve a case within six months from the date of injury.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Call me. I am always happy to talk to potential clients (and it should go without saying, current clients)! I handle all of my cases personally.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Ask other lawyers if they will handle your case, or whether a paralegal or legal assistant will handle the file.
