Introduction

When you hire an attorney, you are inviting that person to be a part of your life. We take great pride in the fact that many people who we met as clients are now our friends. Quite frankly, we expect to become friends with the people we help. We often hear that this dynamic sets us apart from other attorneys, which may be why it is rare for a potential client to interview with us and not ask us to take on his or her case. Although our clients love us, we aren't so sure about the other side. The attorneys at Funk Riemann LLP are former corporate and insurance defense lawyers--we know how the other side thinks, we use that knowledge to help our clients get the best possible result, and we fight very hard for you. Sometimes that drives the other side crazy but, hey, we are on your side, not theirs. One of the best parts of our job is knowing that we are giving our clients and friends peace of mind. Litigation is stressful, but we place your stress firmly on our shoulders. And, of course, we love it when we get our clients more money than they thought possible--because of our backgrounds, we are able to effectively navigate insurance companies, defense attorneys and the courts to get the best possible outcome for you. Read our reviews, check out our website and credentials, then give us a call. We look forward to meeting you!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We typically work on a contingent fee basis, meaning, we don't get paid unless you do. In some circumstances, we will work on an hourly basis if that makes the most sense for the client.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with a free consultation, preferably in person. We want to get to know our prospective clients, and we want our clients to know us. After that, we mostly communicate by telephone, text and email, whatever the client prefers. When in-person meetings are needed, we are happy to travel to the client's location or host him or her at our offices in the West Bottoms.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have more than 20 years' experience handling more than 100 cases involving all different types of litigation, including personal injury, sexual harassment and discrimination claims. We were trained at some of the top national (Boies, Schiller & Flexner) and local firms (Shook, Hardy & Bacon; Berkowitz Oliver), and we graduated from some of the world's top schools (Princeton University, Stanford Law School, London School of Economics, Oxford University, Mizzou and K-State).

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
We started as defense attorneys working for major corporations, but our hearts were always with the individual plaintiff, especially the individual plaintiff facing long odds. So we made the switch and now 90% of our practice is dedicated to helping individuals.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We mostly work with individuals who have been injured due to someone else's negligence--car wrecks, slip and falls, dog bites, etc. We also represent many people who have suffered sexual harassment or discrimination at work. Clients work with us because we take the stress and the pressure off their shoulders and put it firmly on ours.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Meet your attorney in person and ask if they will commit to personally handling your case. At our firm, the telephone is answered by the attorneys and clients get our personal cell numbers. We expect our clients to become our friends--that's certainly how it's worked out over the last decade or more.
