How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started Personal Training while in high school back in 1999. My father was my first influence. He was a former athlete; turned power lifter/body builder during the 1970's - 80's era. A true pioneer. While in high school, my athletic ability needed to be taken to the next level. I started training with renowned athletic trainer, Alex Semenik. Who trained professional athletes (most notable client Mike Tyson) and everyday people. During this time he took me under his wing and mentored me on being a personal trainer. I ran group classes and coached his clients after school my senior year and continued to do so for the next two years while I played baseball at a local college. I then left Scottsdale to continue my baseball career. By the time I was through playing baseball, Alex sold his gym and I bounced around Jobs during my mid twenties. I found myself waking up depressed everyday, working jobs that did not serve my life purpose. I knew I had to get back into personal training. It was during the downturn of the 2008 recession. I then became certified by the top accredited organization NASM and began working as a personal trainer for 24 Hour Fitness. During my 5 + years with 24 Hour Fitness; I worked my way up to Master Trainer and into a management role. I soon found myself dissatisfied working for a corporation. It was in 2013 when I decided to go out on my own and start Patrick Thomas Fitness.
