Introduction

I am a Master Trainer working out of a training facility that does 1/2 Personal training and 1/2 Physical therapy. This allows me to train a variety of individuals, whether it’s training to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat, or post rehab training. I went to Chapman University as a Kinesiology major and have been a professional trainer for 8 years. In my 8 years I have had the pleasure of helping an assortment of different people. From a sweet 79 year old woman training for life longevity, to a 19 year old young man training to enter the fire academy. I have trained amateur athletes, and those seeking to lose over 100lbs, and succeeded. Whatever your goals may be I garuntee that I can help you achieve them!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My base price is $80 per session, and I offer several different packages and discounts to work within the clients budget. I offer discounts for persons with disabilities, veterans, seniors, students, health care workers and first responders.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Nutrition first and foremost. Then evaluate the body and past and present injury. Then evaluate fitness and set attainable goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I was a collegiate baseball player, kinesiology major at Chapman University, International Sports Science Association (ISSA) certified master trainer, CPR/AED certified

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Now that I look back, I've been on the road to training professionally for a long time. I played multiple sports until college. I played collegiate baseball. I was a kinesiology major. During my time as an athlete I experienced countless different training modalities and techniques. It just made sense to put all my knowledge and experience into my first profession.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all ages and genders. Notable clients that I am currently working with are a 79 year old young lady who's primary concern is health, a male in his mid twenties who's primary concern is increasing his physical fitness, a female in her early 60's with PAD who's primary concern is increasing physical fitness, health and managing her PAD, and an autistic man in his mid 30's who comes in 3 times per week just because he likes the company.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Began working with an incredibly driven individual about 6 months ago. He came to me because he had plateaued training by himself. What makes training with this client intriguing is that he's not just interested in what I can do for him the hours that he is in the gym, but he is primarily concerned with using his time here as a learning experience. This is why I got into training. To be able to help clients even after their training program is over.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Honesty and knowledge. Plenty of trainers will throw a little smoke and mirrors when it comes to setting realistic goals or hurt you with unnecessary movements. Sales pitches and gimmicks. Trainers who aren't very good trainers rely on sales pitches to feed their clientele. Compatible personality. There's nothing worse than spending an obligated hour with somebody you don't like.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Realistic reasons and goals for seeking personal training services. Budget. How much are you truly willing to spend per month on the service? How many days can you fully commit to the service? How far are you willing to travel for the service?
