Introduction

My name is Nick Dunn and I am a strength & conditioning coached based out of Pasadena, CA. I am nationally certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with a B.S. in Applied Fitness. I've worked with a wide range of clients from professional athletes, actors, kids & anybody with a goal willing to work hard. I love working with different clients and being able to provide the tools necessary to my clients for them to thrive in the fitness space. Seeing my clients excel in their journey is one of the most rewarding undertakings. Every client is unique and my system is tailor made for each individual that I am working with. I pride myself on a no nonsense training system where all methods are discussed upfront with the client.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer 2 straight forward pricing packages. Once we discuss your needs and frequency of training we will find the package that best suites you! I have no hidden fees, my packages are sold for a short term training package vs a longer term package. Packages purchased for longer term training cycles are discounted per session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My typical process when training with a new client is very simple. I love to sit down with them to find out what motivates them and why they want to start training. Once we break down their goals and objectives of the training we start to complete movement assessments to identify potential areas of improvement. After movement assessments are completed, a personal program is designed based on your needs and your goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Fitness. During this time it allowed me to work with a diverse array of clients all while learning practical application with specific populations. I also have a CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This certification allows me to work with athletes at all levels.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started off coaching children from all ages in martial arts and general fitness at an after school program. Eventually I started working with professional fighters. From there I started working with your average every day person seeking serious changes in their fitness goals. Once I started seeing the same challenges by my clients I became obsessed with finding out the most optimal way for body composition

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a large variety of clients. From children as young as 4 years old to professional athletes. Many clients have different goals, but the common goal is to meet the client where they are at and improve from their current position. I've been very privileged to be able to work with so many different clients, but it has taught me how to become a better coach. I've worked with many clients with complicated health issues, but through clear communication and understanding we've made serious strides in their training and health.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One of my clients was very hesitant to exercise and to the lifestyle changes needed to elicit his desired weight loss. He did not enjoy exercise and strength training and would only train 1x per week. Throughout this process, we implemented different training techniques that catered to his preferences and he began to train 3x per week! Within 7 months, he lost 60 lbs of body fat all while increasing his daily activity and a year and a half later he's been able to keep the weight off and then some. The weight he lost was great, but what I'm most proud of was the lifestyle changes that he was able to adopt and that he found value in!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask many questions to the person that you are considering to hire. Make sure they have experience in working with the population in relation to your own goals. Make sure that you enjoy this person's company when hiring them as you will spend a lot of time with your coach!
