Introduction

Firstly, I know most of us dread going to the gym, and on top of that we have real life situations to deal with such as children, work, or schooling. It can be extremely tough just finding the time to put in the work, let alone being motivated to do so. However, finding time to get into the gym is crucial because it can boost all areas in life where we struggle to actually make time for a nice gym workout. Confidence, morale, energy, and efficiency all come from a healthy body, in which training encompasses. With me, you'll train in a boutique-style facility, so it's entirely free of the "gym" things we all want to avoid, such as large crowds. Helping you reach your health goal, as well as push you beyond those, is key, and I look forward to speaking with you and, ultimately, working with you! - Petrina

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
For each new potential client, I offer a free, no-obligation session and assessment. This allows you to get to know me, how you'll be training each session, my facility as well as an opportunity for me to learn more about you, your habits and goals moving forward. My pricing is based on the package chosen, how often you train and the length of the session. After the free session, you'll have all of your options presented to you to make an informed decision.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Your first session is a completely free, no-obligation training session and consultation. This will provide you with a first-hand experience of what training will be like with me. At that time, too, you'll be presented with all of the options available to you, so you can make a truly informed decision on whether you'd like to continue with me. During the consultation, I will also take the time to get to know you, your fitness and nutritional habits, and present to you their professional recommendation on where to start.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am currently a Certified Personal Trainer with The American Council on Exercise (ACE), and am currently studying to obtain a Sports Nutrition Certification. In addition to the education, I have several years of experience in larger gyms.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I actually knew a long time ago I wanted to be a personal trainer! In 2007, I got my certifications for personal training while I was still living in Australia. I loved the idea of helping people feel better about themselves and more confident in who they are and in their own skin. I felt that’s what fitness has given me and have always been in love the idea of spreading the fitness vibes. Plus, I hold firmly to the belief that a body in motion stays in motion. I continued my career path after I moved to San Diego in February, 2017 and received my American certification shortly thereafter. Once I was certified through an accredited organization (ACE) in the states, I began training clients at larger, corporate gyms. Since then, I've been self-employed and now able to provide the best experiences for my clients.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with and helped a very wide range of clientele, all adding to my extensive experience. Clients such as: - Pre/Post-Partum clients to get their bodies back as soon as possible - Weight loss/fat loss clients - Seniors that have limited range of movement - Lean muscle/fat loss clients - Military Fitness Preparation - Youth Sports Conditioning

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I really enjoy helping new moms (and Dad's, too!) get their bodies back after having children. Helping people get their comfort and confidence back in their bodies is beyond rewarding to me, and would love to continue working with those clients. As an added benefit, this knowledge and experience can be passed on to the kids, helping them with making better exercise and nutritional choices in the future.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
There are countless trainers just in San Diego, let alone surrounding areas. The first thing to consider is the professionalism of the trainer. A trainer will ultimately learn more about you than most of your friends and family, and having that trust in your trainer is paramount to your success. Secondly, being able to build on the relationship will undoubtedly help in making the results come faster and stay longer through accountability. Personal training isn't what you may have seen on TV where people are getting sick, crying or anything else--that's just TV. Our job, and that of other professional personal trainers, is to help guide you through your fitness journey, and come out much further ahead to make sure value exceeds the investment.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Naturally, results match your level of commitment. Rather than considering how much "time" is spent in the gym, consider how much effort you'll bring to it. Certainly, a trainer can only do so much if you're not committed, and this doesn't mean a financial commitment or a commitment to the trainer. It means you must be committed to yourself, to want to be be better and feel better.
