What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
All new clients receive a 15 min complimentary fitness phone consultation. After gathering a needs assessment, all new clients are required to fill out a detailed confidential health history form and sign a waiver prior to meeting for their in person initial fitness assessment. Scheduling, budget, & fitness programs are discussed either during fitness consult or during initial in person fitness assessment.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
YES! You have to stay abreast of all the fitness trends and new science discoveries in the health and wellness field. Currently I hold 12 fitness related certifications and will be completing another nutrition course in 2020 through National Academy of Sports Medicine. I also take as many online CEC courses as I can throughout the year to maintain my current certifications.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I decided long ago that I wanted to teach others how to live a healthy lifestyle. I have always been active since I was a young girl. I took ballet, gymnastics, played soccer for almost 10years and have always been working out in a gym since I was a teenager! Throughout college I worked in corporate settings which involved a lot of sitting at a desk. That wasnt working for me at all! I really wanted to stay active and share my passion for fitness! So I moved from Upstate NY to Northern California and shortly thereafter, I began my career as a Personal Trainer. I have now been a fitness coach for over 15 years teaching eager clients how to stay fit, get fit, and make fitness a part of their lives!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Ive worked with older adults, busy working mom's and time-strapped women, semi-pro athletes, pre/post natal, clients in addiction recovery, busy corporate professionals, and teens.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the trainer/teacher is certified and has some experience working with people in a one-on-one setting. It's more about the relationship and interpersonal skills of both the client and trainer that will make or break the session. Personal training or any 1-on-1 training, is about creating a fun, safe and "personalized" experienced.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I wish clients knew that what I do for a living is a passion turned career, that this isn't just a hobby for me. I genuinely love what I do and my goal is to continue to educate myself so that I can offer my clients the best skill sets within my scope of practice!
