Introduction

I am passionate about helping people achieve proper, pain free movement. I'm dedicated to helping people get back to what they love after an injury. I want you to have the mobility, stability, and strength to live and perform at your absolute best. In 2009 I earned the title Certified Personal Trainer and began my career in the fitness industry. I was designing and implementing personalized fitness programs based on clients individual goals, abilities, and experience. I was helping people, and loving life. I knew I had found my calling. In 2014 I added Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach to my title. I was working in a corporate gym, and also running strength and conditioning programs at boxing and mixed martial arts gyms. I had found my passion for athletic training. In 2016 I earned the title Fitness Nutrition Specialist. I was now able to design and implement more in depth nutrition programs. I gained an understanding of how manipulate calorie, macro nutrient, and micro nutrient intake safely and effectively according to my clients needs and goals. We started seeing immediate, long term results. In 2018 I earned the title Corrective Exercise Specialist. I learned how muscular imbalances cause pain, postural deviations, and faulty movement patterns. I learned how to assess, address, and correct those muscular imbalances and integrate corrective exercise into my clients fitness programs. I was now able to continue and progress physical therapy protocols, which opened my eyes to the world of injury rehab and "prehab" or prevention. I learned how proper muscular balance and movement patterns improve human performance from regular daily activities to athletic events. I was able to help my clients move better, and they immediately started to feel better. In 2020 I created FAS Training. I opened a training studio in old town Lafayette Colorado. I faced the challenges of running a small fitness business during covid. Despite the uncertainty covid brought to the fitness industry, I had success in the community and had the pleasure of meeting and working with some really great people. In 2021 I earned the title Certified Powerlifting Instructor. I learned the fundamentals of coaching the sport of powerlifting. I learned sport specific strength training techniques. I started to see incredible results when I combined my knowledge of strength and conditioning, nutrition, corrective exercise, and powerlifting specific training techniques. In 2022 I became a Certified IASTM Practitioner (instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation). I learned to use specialized tools to increase blood flow to specific areas, loosen or relax tight or overactive muscles, and speed up healing process. I often use IASTM during recovery phases of my client's programs. In 2023 I started operating out of my home, also in Lafayette Colorado. I have great space dedicated to coaching, training, and teaching my clients in a clean, safe, private environment. In this one on one setting we are able to focus 100% their fitness programs, without the crowds in commercial gyms, or the "hustle and bustle" of fitness studios. I am passionate about helping people achieve proper, pain free movement. I'm dedicated to helping people get back to what they love after an injury. I want you to have the mobility, stability, and strength to live and perform at your absolute best.

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Every FAS Training client starts with an initial consultation. This consultation gives us a chance to sit down together, discuss your goals, experience, and any injuries you may have or may have had in the past. We will conduct a functional movement assessment, address any faulty movement patterns, muscular imbalances, postural deviations, and discuss how we can begin to correct them.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As an ISSA certified Elite Trainer I have completed the Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Powerlifting Instructor, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist courses and exams.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I left the Marine Corps in 2009, I wanted to stay active and in shape. A career in fitness made perfect sense to me. Initially I was drawn to the strength and conditioning world, after some time I started noticing overuse injuries due to overtraining specific movement patterns specific to our athletes specific sports and their roles in those sports. I started studying corrective exercise to learn how to become a more rounded trainer. I learned how maintaining muscular balance and proper movement patterns not only helps prevent injuries, but also improves an athletes ability to perform both sport specific tasks and regular daily activities.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hiring a fitness professional to design and implement a personalized fitness program, no matter what your goal or experience level, is an investment in yourself. Take your time, meet with several trainers, listen to what they say, but also ask questions. Make sure you are comfortable with their personality, training style, knowledge base, understanding of your specific goals and needs. This should be a rewarding, fun, and life changing endeavor.
