Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
You can certainly hire somebody cheaper. But what you get with me is aclear understanding of how the project is done, Where I saved you money- Someone who does not cut corners- most handyman realize you won’t know the difference and if you do it’ll be long after the fact. I keep you involved and I show you where the value added is. I generally work more hours than I charge for and a lot of times I do extra things at no additional charge. Others may give you a low price but then continuously tack on things… not so with me. I will not talk to you into a repair that is not needed and I will show you what options you have available to you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I review the project with them, give them suggestion on other ways it might be done which can save them money but not sacrifice quality understandings, be reliable and show the quality of work within the scope of the I like to get a clear picture of what is wanted and then to talk about time frames, costs etc and if applicable sketch what a project will look like if needed so there is a good understanding between us. I am looking to have them hire me again and be their go-to guy for such things going forward. I do what I say and say what I do - few surprises when working with me.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Took wood working shop for 4 years with a master craftsman in my younger years. When I bought a two family house ..gutted it and converted it to a 3 family house with garden and lots of beauty. Worked with a few professionals as well. Plus Educated myself with professional journals and trainings. I enjoyed working alongside seasoned professionals as well I worked alongside a master plumber and electrician for a while as well as took electrician type courses and textbooks. Worked for a good size construction company to work their building that we renovated. I am always trying to learn how to do things better for myself and those I work with.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I bought a house and even after it was inspected there was stuff the inspector didn't catch plus a lot was outdated and the house had limited amenities. ... I took lots of shop classes as a kid and later worked alongside masters in the field Found i enjoyed the work and helping others. I had a lot of guys come to my house I didn’t really know what they were doing and the pros were ridiculously expensive, also not that good sometimes. Now I help others save money and gain confidence and get more use and enjoyment from their property

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Mostly homeowners, landlords, Real estate agents , property managers some renters.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A back yard I changed over from a place being difficult to even walk through into a serene zen place where the apt owner could entertain guest as well as relax in.. The picture of the red mulch and wood bench next to a peach tree surrounded by a stockade fence. Took less than a week to clear and install - also making it very low maintenance for the owner who did not like yard the value of the property went up as well. The owner was a musician and had very little money to spend and no idea what to do with this space. Now he enjoys it on daily bases.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
