Introduction

Do you want to make a commitment to look and feel better? I'm here to help! I'm a senior, cancer survivor, athlete, vegan, professional trainer and certified health coach who values the asset of health. My passion is helping people get stronger and feel good about themselves. I have a special place in my heart for breast cancer survivors, Parkinson's Disease and dementia clients. Although I work with adults of all ages, I have a specialty in working with active and less active senior adults with various issues, helping them with mobility, flexibility, balance, strength and confidence. Another specialty is working with new moms. Training is my life, helping people get back to health and feeling fit, no matter what their starting point is. Helping you reach success in your fitness goals is my goal! I can work with you in custom 45 min sessions in your home, my home fitness studio in Chamblee/Atlanta or a location of your choice. I also offer real-time online workouts and teach group classes, esp. Seniors' Strength and Balance class and New Moms Fitness class. My fitness studio and equipment are sanitized after use, and I will wear a mask on request. I work on a no-contract basis and offer some discounts for 3 sessions or more sessions a week. NOTE: Most references are available here and on Google. Credentials include Certified Health Coach (2017), certified to teach Parkinson’s Disease patients (2019), certified in Adult CPR/AED (2017/19/21).

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer discounts for buddy workouts, and for 3 or more sessions per week. Also, I charge a minimal travel fee for anyone more than 5 miles away who wants on-location sessions.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I sit down with you and a family member if needed, to learn more about your health and fitness goals. I conduct a health and fitness assessment that becomes a guide to developing a custom training program for you that meets your goals and addresses your physical/medical issues as appropriate. We then begin to work together in person.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I offer my clients 30+ years of exercise/movement and sports activity, a certification in health coaching and and am studying the same for personal training. I also offer clients basic nutrition; I'm certified, but I am not a dietician. I'm certified in exercise for Parkinson's Disease patients and other neurological conditions, and have a CPR/AED certification from the American Cross.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I'm 75 years old and found inspiration and spiritual and mental strength through my workouts and health background. Part of that inspiration came from a breast cancer diagnosis and my urge to know more about how to stay cancer free. In the last few years, I found women particularly wanted to know how I stayed in shape and how I ate. After a long career in another industry, training and coaching were a natural fit for my 'second life.'

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I use my experience to work with clients primarily over age 45 to help them get stronger, feel fit, look toned, retain or gain their energy, flexibility and strength. I specialize in helping adults who typically have one or more medical conditions, can be immobile, and/or have surgery or an injury they need to prepare for or recover from (i.e., prehab and rehab). I have specialties also in working with clients with dimentia, Parkinson's Disease and joint issues and replacements.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
On a referral from a chiropractor, I started training an 83 year old man with chronic lower body issues. He wanted to stay active and feel better instead of sitting in a chair day after day watching TV. I see him 3X/week and over the last year with custom programs, his energy level has increased along with his muscle memory and strength. He recently underwent physical therapy and commented that many of the exercises I do with him were exactly what the therapist had him work on. I am honored to be his coach and to help him on his journey.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check Google references and have great chemistry from the start! This is a productive, results oriented relationship that needs to be fun. Look for someone who has experience in your age bracket and/or with any issues you might have or have had. You also want knowledge and experience, especially experience related to any health issues they have in the past or now.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would urge people to think about your specific health and fitness goals - what you want out of training and/or coaching. What will you call success? And what is your commitment level? Results aren't immediate, they take time and focus. Are you willing to do what it takes to achieve your goals.
