What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Rates will depend largely on distance traveled (for in-home training), schedule availability, and training frequency just to name a few. Some clients prefer to be coached remotely, while others prefer to meet one-on-one multiple times per week and completely delegate their training to the trainer. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After a new client has expressed interest for personal training/coaching, a date and time will be determined to further discuss details of desired goals and outcomes, training preferences, schedule availability, and other topics pertaining to the client about training. During that same discussion, a thorough health and fitness history will be gathered in order to create a plan of action.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with trainees from all unique walks of life all of which begin from varying health and fitness backgrounds. Most of the people that I work with are looking to sustainably manage body weight, improve body composition (become leaner), incorporate working out into their lives in a productive and efficient manner, gain muscular strength, and increase energy and vitality to be able to improve the quality of life (playing with their children, be able to perform better in their business, or other pursuits).

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Physical training, as part of a well-balanced and healthy diet is the stimulus for physiological adaptation. Weight loss can be a long, challenging, arduous, and at times extremely frustrating process. Patience and consistency is the key and recipe for sustainable weight loss. What I like to do with my clients when it comes to weight loss is to implement realistic, simple, and productive strategies and tactics that will facilitate changes in body composition. I also encourage my clients to temporarily divert their attention away from the scale and away their immediate weight loss goals, and instead to focus on other areas of health such as improving strength, improving confidence in certain exercises, and improving their relationship to exercise and food to name a few.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a personal trainer or coach, I would recommend finding someone who has had personal experience with progressive strength and fitness training and/or who has struggled with weight loss and overcame it. Next, I would encourage customers to find a coach who has worked with a vast majority of the public. A coach who has worked with a wide variety of people from different walks of life with different health and fitness backgrounds understands that there can be a lot of variance and complexities among each individuals. By understanding that each individual is unique and complex, the coach can adapt his or her training style and methodology to best suite the trainee to improve and thrive. Next, find a coach who can think critically, and one who is open-minded, and one who you can have a real meaningful conversation with.
