Introduction

We find you the best trainer to fit your goals and needs, so you don't have to! Many trainers only want to work with people who are already fit. They lack empathy. They are bad with beginners. They shy away from those with significant health challenges. And they struggle with those of unique ages, lifestyles, or body types. They want clients who are easy. Clients they can give a ‘cookie-cutter’ workout to. That’s not us! Our trainers are upbeat and approachable. They love beginners. They enjoy creating custom approaches WITH their clients. They craft each session and plan according to the individual. Our trainers are selected not just for their resume or accomplishments but also for their personality and vibe. We make sure they are incredible Trainers as well as wonderful people. We come to your home (or apartment/office gym, or park, or even virtually) around your schedule, and custom-design a program specific to your goals. We do not sell short-term solutions. We want you to be fit and healthy now, as well as, 10 years from now.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
-Sessions start at as little as $85 and can be up to $105 per session based on the trainer. -If you would like to train with a partner, we add just $10 per session. So you and your partner can split the cost to save more! -You can try up to 3 sessions with your trainer with no financial risk. We'll refund you if it doesn't work out.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Feel free to reach out to my New Client Helper (Tara) on here or by Email. If you prefer phone, you may also give her a call or text! Tara will then direct you to our 'Get started' form so we can find the best trainer for your needs and goals. Then you set up your first session with a trainer and get moving!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
All of our trainers are certified and insured. Most have advanced certifications or degrees, and many of our Happy Human trainers have over a decade of client experience. The trainers that join our team are curious, compassionate, and ready to go the extra mile to learn about your specific situation.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have always been interested in movement. My undergraduate degrees are in Neuroscience and Dance. I then went on to graduate school in Dance Kinesiology (the study of human movement). I discovered that I really enjoyed working with the broader population and I started personal training in 2002 with the goal to help more people(non-dancers) learn to love movement. My husband and I started this company in 2011 to connect high quality personal trainers (who share that love of movement) with clients who want to workout in their homes.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Some of our trainers specialize in working with a specific type of client (for example, 65+), but most are qualified and enjoy working with numerous types of clients. Sometimes a client is already fit and looking for some fine-tuning. Sometimes a client used to be fit but isn't anymore, and is worried about getting hurt. Sometimes a client has lots of physical restrictions and needs someone to help them figure out how to get fit. This is why we find it so important to make sure we connect you with the best trainer that fits YOUR needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
-A client who had been struggling with many injuries and joint replacements over the past decade had never worked with a personal trainer before. She had a hip replacement scheduled in 2 months. Her goal was to be able to ride a bike after she had recovered from surgery, but after focusing on strength, mobility, and stability she was able to get on her bicycle pain free 2 weeks before her surgery even happened. -Another client who had a birth defect of an underdeveloped arm thought it was impossible to ever do a push up. He hadn’t done one since he was in high school and when he hired a personal trainer, he was in his mid 60s. He actually laughed at his trainer and thought it was a joke when they told him that he was going to be doing multiple push ups in a few months. Well with some practice and modifications to start, guess who ended up being so proud of himself 4 months later being able to do 10 consecutive push ups from the floor! -A client who had only done cardio in her life up until hiring a personal trainer was only able to lift a max of 15 pound dumbbells for any exercise for the first couple of months. Well, she dedicated herself and wanted to start getting stronger, now a year later she is back-squatting more than her body weight, hip-thrusting over 300 pounds, and actually decided to become a boxing instructor. She said that if you would have ever told her that she would be this strong 2 years ago she would have laughed in your face.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
It is very easy to fall into the hands of a bad personal trainer. Sadly, our profession requires very little work to be officially certified. It can take less than 3 months to get certified. Someone who only has basic certification may be a dangerous person to train with. Often these cookie cutter trainers apply cookie cutter workouts. They give the same workout to a teenage athlete and an out-of-shape retiree. This creates disappointments at best, and injuries at worst. Always make sure your trainer is thoroughly curious, involved, and experienced in the art and science of personal training. A basic certification is not enough. A trainer needs to have shown some other substantial commitment to their craft before we will hire them for our team.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about your goals. Consider what you've loved about being physical in the past. Do you love to be outdoors? Do you want to someday go rock climbing? Do you aspire to take the stairs in your office skyscraper? Make your goals action based rather than number based. For example - I want to play catch with my dog without throwing out my shoulder. RATHER THAN - I want to lose x lbs. Also, ask yourself if you are ready to commit to getting in shape, and developing healthy habits and routines, or just looking for a 'Quick Fix'?
