I have over 30 years consistent experience and have trained over 10,000 clients. In college, I was a highly ranked collegiate wrestler and Olympic qualifier. As a graduate student, I was the trainer/strength and conditioning specialist for the wrestling team and baseball teams at the University of Tennessee and for many Olympic qualifiers. Helping others improve their health and fitness has been my lifelong passion and I have been privileged to train people of all ages and fitness levels, athletes, body builders, fitness models, celebrities, executives, and several professional touring musicians. Whatever your goal is; increasing your strength, fat loss, muscle building and/or toning, together we can and will do it. If you commit to train with me and also follow through with home exercise I design for you, it will happen. I am skilled at training most people regardless of their age or fitness levels. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My basic fees begin at $70 per studio hour and are based upon frequency of weekly/monthly sessions, whether the client desires private, semi-private or group training or home-based training. I can and will design a program to fit most budgets. The first session is always free and consists of a comprehensive consultation and 45 minute training session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first session is always complimentary, as is the consultation. During the initial training session, I always do baseline testing, in which I am assessing the client's strengths, weaknesses, posture and body mechanics. I always conduct a complete medical history too. It is important to know first hand whether a client has a history of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, circulatory issues or asthma/copd, pregnancy, etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology over 20 years clinical experience in the physical therapy profession. I also have an athletic training certification, 2 personal training certifications, strength and conditioning specialist certification, sports nutrition certification and balance and mobility certification. When I was a full-time practitioner in physical therapy, I was a shoulder, knee, neck, low back and balance rehabilitation specialist. I am also a Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis Exercise Expert and work closely with the Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt University, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl, University of Miami School of Medicine and numerous local neurologists and national neurologists.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I became interested in personal training and physical therapy after suffering a near catastrophic injury during my junior year at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I was a wrestler and suffered 2 fractures in my neck, (c4 and c5). I required surgery and fortunately, was not left with any paralysis. I made a complete recovery. After my surgery, I went through very strenuous physical therapy and my collegiate wrestling career came to an end along with my Olympic dreams. At that time, I became interested in physical therapy and fitness training and haven't looked back since.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I assist my clients with weight loss, weight gaining, body building, muscle toning, body sculpting, nutrition, strengthening and injury/post surgical rehabilitation. I also work with people living with Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Strokes, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Idiopathic Body Myositis, chronic pain, joint replacements.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I believe that it is a privilege to work with every client I have ever worked with.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I always tell a potential client to come see me with their own fitness goals. A trainer should never set goals for you. A competent trainer will always ask you your own personal goals and will then help you to fine tune them to your ability.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What you should think about before speaking to me or other fitness professionals are your goals and what you want to achieve through your training. Are you only interested in losing a few pounds? Are you interested in improving your muscle strength/endurance? Are you interested in completely transforming your body? Are you interested in improving your posture and flexibility? Are you interested in competing in an obstacle race or 5k, 10k or marathon? Are you interested in rehabilitating an injury? Are you interested in improving your nutritiion?
