Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
1) For one private client I charge $55 per session. 2) For couples I charge 1.5x per session, which would = $82.50 3) I do offer Hybrid programs where I train a client in person 1-3x per week, depending on what they can afford/fit in their schedule, and send them the rest of their programmed workouts to stay consistent.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I typically schedule a one-on-one call with each client. This will give us the time to get to know each other, answer all the questions the client needs answered, go over their goals, health history and set them up for success. We will also go over schedule and expectations so that the client stays consistent and reaches their goal. From there your first workout will be getting know your range of motions in your joints by performing specific exercises. We will also find out what are 10 rep max is for specific exercises so that I can program each individual workout moving forward.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have my Certificate in Personal Training through International Sports Science Association. I have been certified since June 2nd of 2015. That also gives me over 7 years of experience. I am also a Certified Nutrition Coach through ISSA as well.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up playing many sports and have enjoyed being active. I signed up for my first weightlifting class my junior year and fell in love with lifting. Fast forward 5 years I started working at Golds Gym and that is where my career started.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Over the past 7+ years I have worked with many different types of clients... 1) clients late into their 60-70s with double knee and hip replacements 2) clients that want to lose weight, as I am a nutrition coach 3) clients who want to build muscle 4) clients that are looking to get better at their sprinting & conditioning 5) clients who are transgender clients 6) clients who are looking to build better habits and rituals

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Seeing how this is a weird question I would say that question should be... Describe a recent achievement a client reached I am fond of. I would say one of my favorite clients that I had the privilege to coach was Ben Furr. I met Ben as I was teaching my fitness camp in the park in Charlotte, NC. He was walking laps and eventually he came and introduced himself. He told me he had spoken to a few trainers who blatantly told him he would never lose the weight. I told him I believe in you and we will get it done. Ben was 325lbs when we started back in 2018. fast forward to the end of 2020, Ben reached his goal of 100lbs down!!! We still stay in touch and he has now brought his wife into a healthy lifestyle and they workout together. These clients impact my life just as much as I have impacted theirs because you create such an awesome bond with clients that you have spent so much time with achieving so many goals on this journey! I love it!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Know that your coach wants this for you just as much, if not more, than you do. Your coach has the right to fire a client. If your coach is giving you 110% and you're giving back 5%, missing workouts consistently, and not remaining coachable, your coach has every right to practice stress management and let you go. Your coach is a REAL person on the other end. If this isn't for you, thats ok. Communicate with them and let them know. Don't ghost them after they have poured their heart emotions into your well being for months.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1) A lot of clients don't think about their finances before looking into a personal trainer. You should look into what you are able to afford per month before reaching out and communicate that to the professional so that they can work with you with your budget. 2) This is going to be much more than going to lifting some weights. This will be, most likely, more mental that physical. Really try and get your mindset right and understand what you are about to take on. Going from a couch to working out multiple times per week can be a lot. You are going to be creating new habits, and know that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit and 90 days to make or break a lifestyle. YOU GOT THIS!! I BELIEVE IN YOU :)
