Introduction

Tara is a mind and body bender, transforming body and spirit through action and love. She began her inquiry into the mind body connection while training as high level gymnast. In college gymnastics she suffered from multiple injuries including ACL reconstruction, a hyperextended elbow, and a dislocated shoulder. She graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from Ithaca College a yearning to know more about the body than professions with text books could supply. Post college she fell in love with Yoga studying with Diane Bruni at Downward Dog in Toronto, and Jonathan Fields at Sonic Yoga in NYC and AcroYoga with Jenny Sauer-Klein and Janson Nemer. Through these practices she was able to recover from her pervious injuries in a much more complete way. With her body recovered she embarked on a professional circus career, training with Master Lu Yi and Serchma Byamba at the circus center in San Francisco. performing aerial acrobatics, contortion and handstands worldwide. Including contracts with Club Med Resorts, the Venetian Casio Macau, Celebrity Cruises Cirque Polynesian, Cirquetacular Entertainment, and dozens of other Entertainment companies. She is forever a student of the miracles within the human body, and it brings her great joy to bring her students back into their strength interegty and wholeness.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer discounts for people who are serious about making changes in their life and want to meet multiple times a week.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When I start working with a new person the most important thing is to understand them, their goals and what motivates them. I then asses the general condition of their body, past injuries, ease of functional movements etc. From there we create together a general plan for thier workout that we keep amending as needed. No two people are the same, everyone needs and want different approaches.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
In addition to a BS in Exercise Science I also bring my 20 years of hands on experience working with people and their bodies. I have tons of experience leading group exercise classes in yoga, acrobatics, gyrotonic, handstands, aerial arts and stretching. As well as experience working one on one with individuals to accomplish specific personal goals such as, mastering a specific skill such as a handstand, recovering from injury, or building strength.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up training in gymnastics and as I got older friends started to ask me for pointers or help with one move or another. And it brought me so much joy to share this kind of body knowledge in person with others. It’s really my love of movement and people that lead me into continually learning about the body and sharing this knowledge.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Currently I focus on supporting with middle aged women. I do this because I can relate to their struggles on a personal level and we all need to be better supported to feel free and at ease with in our bodies.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Most recently I have been having a blast teaching handstands to adults. While a handstand is a physical skill it’s also so much more than just that. Learning to balance upside down is a powerful reorientation process for reimagining and overcoming many challenges in your life.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Get started!!! It’s so easy to put things off but the sooner you start the sooner you will see results.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What kind of support do I truly need for the work I am putting in to be effective. If you have tried to exercise in the past and gotten discouraged or lazy it’s probably not your fault. Life especially in today’s world is challenging and stressful. You need to factor in that you won’t always be at your best, and how can you have supports in place to help you recover well when discouraged so you bounce back quickly.
