Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We offer customized, 1-hour long training sessions at our studio, your home or online.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Initially we like to meet with the client over coffee at a mutually convenient location to discuss their goals as well as answer any questions they may have. We discuss their health and medical history. We schedule their initial training session and explain what to expect. This is usually a fairly quick meeting but is beneficial one.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We each have a nationally accredited personal training certification (NASM). We annually take continuing education classes and seminars. This helps keep us sharp and up to date in all aspects of training. We also have additional certifications in boot camps, nutrition and pre/post natal.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Exercise and well being has always been a part of my life. Through the years people have asked for advice or exercise tips. I came to find that through these experiences I genuinely enjoyed helping people exercise and live healthier lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We've worked with a variety of clients. A mom who wants to lose the baby weight, rehab a knee/hip replacement, PGA Pro, client with COPD, teenage girl looking to fit in and no longer be overweight, husband/wife, man who sits behind a desk all day & now wants to be able to play with his kids, MS client, Autistic boy, mom who's kids are now grown & she wants to take care of her, someone going thru transgender, average man/woman who hasn't worked out in years, retired Marine, an 85 year old WW2 vet, a marathon runner, a bride who wants to look good on her special day, client with numerous health issues, 2x cancer survivor

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A project that is on-going is one of myself. Over 7 years ago I was in a near-fatal motorcycle accident. The accident caused a traumatic brain injury which left me having to relearn how to walk, talk, and do daily everyday activities. I was having to take drugs both to keep me alive and to ease the pain I was experiencing. In the interim I gained in excess of 75lbs. In not being able to workout, I had become depressed, frustrated, frightened and had all but given up hope of ever seeing myself as I once was. I had forgotten all about the training and well-being I had once educated countless others in, and was slowly losing myself. It took 7 long years to finally get medical clearance to be allowed to exercise. My experience has allowed me to be ever-more understanding and empathetic toward my clients and their personal struggles in achieving a well balanced lifestyle. I'm proud to say that in just over 5 months I have lost most of the weight, am stronger and am off of all the drugs that had become a crutch to me for so long. What had once come easy to me as far as exercise and healthy lifestyle has now become a challenge. As this project remains on-going, I hope it will serve to help and inspire others.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I'd advise a simple meeting, preferable outside of the gym. Have a conversation about what they can provide in helping you achieve your goals. It should be understood that most trainers are educated in exercise and well-being. One should seek out a provider that is detail-oriented, well-mannered, professional, looks the part and has the client's best interest at heart.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should thoroughly think about the time and effort that is involved in achieving a healthy lifestyle. They should consider their schedule (ie: work, family, children, spouse, commitments) in relation to an exercise program. They should think of what their goals are in a realistic manner. They should think about what do they expect out of themselves and out of the professional. They should think about their budget in relation to how long it will take them to achieve their goal.
