How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've struggled with body image issues ever since I was a teenager. I hated physical education classes because I am very clumsy and uncoordinated. However, I used to do hours of cardio in hopes of burning all the calories I consumed. Ironically, the more cardio I did, the more hungry I got and ate more. The end result was frustration and cardio obsession with no progress to show for. In 2005 I shifted my focus toward strength training, and I was amazed by how fast my body was changing and how managing my weight became less of a struggle. I got hooked. I started reading and educating myself more and more on the topic with the goal of finding solutions to my "issues", and learning more about getting stronger and fitter. More and more friends and strangers started asking me for advice. In 2009 I got my first PT certification and my first client, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My 64 year old client came to me with a goal of performing a one full push up, which she hasn't been able to do her entire life. First step was showing her how to properly set up for a push up to avoid potential injury. It took us about 6 weeks of doing different (easier) push up variations and other exercises strengthening her upper body, to perform a full push up. Currently she's able to perform 10 in a row.
