Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Base pricing is for those who travel to my location. Discounts available for bulk session packages. Pricing includes optional access to training app, nutritional guidance, bonus online programming, and virtual sessions when necessary.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Upon contacting me, we will schedule a brief phone call to discuss your goals and to determine our compatibility. If we decide to move forward, the next step is a complementary assessment and a deeper discussion of goals, followed by a rough plan forward. Then we will decide if we would like to proceed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I hold a bachelors degree in exercise science, and a masters degree in sports business. I was an adjunct professor in exercise science, and have published research. I spent over 13 years as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach in division athletics, before moving to personal training full-time. I hold nationally accredited certifications from NSCA, CSCCa, USAW, RPR, and TPi.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been challenged by my bodyweight for my entire life. As a young athlete, I became interested in the ways to improve at sport and keep myself healthy. I found joy in training and that is why I decided to attend school for exercise science so that I could bring the same benefits to others.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with all variety of clients from busy professionals to professional athletes, from beginner to expert, youth athletes to silver sneakers, those managing chronic disease, wanting to lose weight, gain muscle, or train for their next competition.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent success of mine has been with my 73 year old client, David. He has a chronic lung disease, which makes it difficult for him to complete activities of daily living, such as walking, without developing shortness of breath. Every six months when he returns for testing, his physicians are continuously impressed with his improved lung capacity. Through heavy resistance training, we’ve also been able to maintain muscle mass, improve bone density, and burn excess fat. Despite his lung disease, David has the metabolic age of a person 10 years younger than him.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Consider the professional’s level of education, certification, and experience. Does the professional have experience working with clients that have the same or similar challenges as you? Has the professional overcame the same or similar challenges as you? Look for someone that has a formal process, business documents, and insurance.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Does the professional make you feel at ease, comfortable, and is this someone that you want to spend a fair amount of time with? Are they willing to explain why they have you doing something? If they don’t have the answers, are they willing to admit that and help you find them?
