Introduction

14 Points Fitness is an at home / on site personal training service that provides all equipment you may need, flexible / in home convenience and nutrition coaching in a "pay as you go" plan. I've been serving Bulverde /San Antonio since 2019 and my goal is to help people of all ages live fuller, more active lives. I have certifications in Strength and conditioning (CSCS), crossfit, USA Weightlifting, Personal Training (PT), USA Soccer, Corrective Exercise (CES), nutrition coaching and lifestyle management. None of that is why you should train with me. But I want you to know that I'm competent and confident that I can make a difference in your life. I've worked with high school athletes coming back from serious injuries. I've done sports performance clinics for middle schoolers who are not getting enough "reps" at their practices with club teams. I've helped moms get back into their pre baby clothes and balance family, kids, work and some level of sanity! I've helped adults get back in the swing of being active and picked up where physical therapy left off after a major surgery. I've helped people who are simply too busy to go to a traditional gym. If you're looking to save time and be a fitter, stronger and hopefully happier version of yourself, then reach out. It costs nothing to find out. No traffic- no hassles. I come to you and we workout. Garage, office, backyard, home gym.....let's keep things on the first floor please, lol. You just have to be rested, hydrated and ready to work out. Recruiting friends has its perks! Fitness is better shared with friends. If you don't choose me-I'll help you screen trainers to find the right fit. I retired from the Army in 2018- this is what I'll be doing in some form until I retire for good/die/can't. I discovered that I enjoyed this when I took over my unit's physical fitness program in 2006. Over the years, I learned so much about fitness, people and myself. Now, it's my purpose--I love helping people do things they've never done of do things they never thought they could do. I offer a competitive price and incentives for consistency. If you have no missed sessions in a month- it earns you a free session the next month. Get a friend to join- free week!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The more consistent you are, the cheaper it gets. Full disclosure- I've had situations in the past where someone trains once a week after scheduling me for 3 times a week. You can see how this doesn't work for anyone. We can always update your plan. But first- let's be consistent in any plan we establish. That is the first step.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Day one is free. We get to know each other and talk about goals, health screening, concerns, obstacles and then strategies and habits. We build the plan together. Once we set a date to start, I bring the equipment - and we're off! I typically charge for a set # of sessions at the first of the month. Any session you don't do, we push to the next month.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a: Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach/ CSCS Personal Trainer / National Academy of Sports Medicine Nutrition Coach / L1 Precision Nutrition Corrective Exercise Specialist / NASM Olympic Lifting Coach / USA WeightLifting Crossfit L2 Coach Lifestyle and Diabetes Prevention Coach / CDC

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've been involved in fitness training formally since 2006 in the military. Basically- after 9/11 they discontinued separating service members in the intel field for being overweight. I was put in charge of the Commander's PT Program (for overweight service members) and had a bit of success. After that, I was hooked. It became an additional duty of mine for the rest of my career.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
New Moms Professional (overtasked) moms Teen Athletes Small groups of friends in a neighborhood Busy Professionals Kids wanting to improve coordination for a specific sport Adults / Kids recovering from Surgery/Rehab PT for post stroke patients

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I'm in the process of developing my online content for 14 Points. It's been over 3 years in the making but I'm happy to see the work start to pay off. People underestimate how much time goes into creating meaningful, accurate and interesting content....especially while running a full time business!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Meet several providers before you decide. Personality and fit will go a long way. There are plenty of qualified professionals, but rapport /connection will determine if it's a long term fit. Look at reviews to see how many long term clients he/she has. That is very telling.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The foundation of lifestyle change is knowing what you really want. I meet people often who want to be fit and look a certain way, but they leave the process of that lifestyle out of the equation. Being fit and healthy (happier?) is a set of actions that lead to habits. I can help be part of a new habit.
