Introduction

I help clients achieve their fitness goals by eliminating their fear and misunderstandings of exercise and nutrition. I offer one-on-one personal training, small group training (for space reasons 2 at the most for now), nutritional counseling, sports performance, weight loss, muscle building, and overall education on health and wellness. What I love most about what I do is seeing a client decide that they will make their health a lifetime commitment and not just a "30-day" thing to do. I know it sounds cheesy but I love being there when a client has conquered their fears, doubts, hurdles, obstacles, and defeats. The most gratifying feeling ever.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My going rate is $65 for 60 minutes but I am flexible with any budget. I never want to turn anyone away because of money concerns.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I go over their fitness goals, get starting weights and measurements, and do a physical assessment to see if there is any muscle deviations that need to be addressed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am certified through NASM with additional certs in sports performance and nutrition.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was once overweight and had a hard time pulling it off. I humbled myself and got in front of a trainer and once I was able to pull the weight off, I found my career.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all types of clients. From as young as 15 years old to as seasoned as 75 years. I have worked with those who were morbidly obese to people that were underweight. I have worked with paraplegics, special needs, people coming off an injury, clients with chronic lung disease, and those who just want to be a better version of themselves.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Starting my own business has been a very challenging but fun project. I wanted to start it years ago but didn't have the balls to follow through. One day at the age of 35, I was at a crossroads: either keep working for jobs and with people that I don't particularly like or agree with or build a business how I see fit. With only my apartment gym to train out of, the next day I got my business license, started pounding the streets and phones, went to every type of networking there is, and a year and half later I am up to 30 clients looking to acquire a business location by the end of the year.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My advice is check their certifications. NASM is the best certification behind having an actual kinesiology degree. There are a lot of "weekend certs" that one can acquire with little to no effort. Also, ask in-depth questions: How long they have been training? Where did they train? How many clients have they worked with? More importantly, listen to how they speak. A good or great trainer will not be bragging about themselves but will actively listen to your concerns and give genuine responses.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is your drive (or why) to do this? This will not be an easy journey and I have had clients that talked a good game at the beginning but when you hold them accountable they look for any excuse to get out. Remember, your health is an investment not an expense. If you feel you can't follow through on your commitments this may not work but if you know your "why" it will get you through those tough days and even weeks.
