Introduction

UPDATE: I am so thankful Thumbtack has created a space for us to connect (and I hope I hear from you!), but as a small business owner, I work incredibly hard to personalize the experience to every individual that comes my way. Due to Thumbtacks (major) increase in lead charges, there will be a 5% cost increase on all inquiries through this platform. Feel free to check me out on Google or Instagram to see more of my work & receive my normal package rate. Everyone has a story to tell...I want to tell yours!! Hello! My name is Sara McIngvale. I am a photographer in CT that specializes in creative and candid portrait photography of all kinds. I believe that the beauty of photography is that it manifests itself somewhere between past and present, creating a tangible memory that you can cherish for the years to come. My passion is to illuminate the art in the celebration of life. I want to get to know you so that the photographs encapsulate exactly who you are! I strive to take images that tell genuine stories and I love collaborating to make something unique, personal, and real. I invite those who value the authentic and original, who hold no emotion back, who are ready to dive a little deeper to capture those moments that can never be replaced. Here's what to expect from me: - From your first inquiry, I will take the time to get to know who YOU are. We can share ideas on the perfect location that holds meaning to you or your vision. - I will provide you with styling and preparation tips to ease your mind! - At the session I will guide you through poses and prompts that look and feel natural. - Afterwards, I will send you edits in color and black and white, retouched and beautiful with all the post processing requests you have. - Your gallery will be available for download in full resolution and web optimized sizes. You will also be able to order prints, canvases, and other customized goods through my print lab! I currently work in and around Connecticut but I am always happy to travel to you!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Additional rates apply for travel outside of Southern CT. I also offer to shoot with 35mm film and polaroid for an additional fee (supplies and development) **Discounts** Military gets 10% off! Thank you for your service!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first step is getting to know you! Each shoot is completely customized to your vision. I often ask for any inspiration you may have -- whether it is a style, location, other artwork, music playlist, occasion or anything else that could steer me in the direction of your idea. Once we have the gist of it , we decide the date, time, and location. I'm generally available all hours of the day and night to cater to you! After all the details are discussed, I will send you a contract and an invoice for a small deposit that will later be applied to your total. Next, we meet up to shoot and create some magic! Lastly, I will send you a gallery with proofs for you to select to be edited. After you choose your favorites I will send you another folder with the edited images. Jobs vary, but my general turn around time is 7-14 business days.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My passion for photography started my freshman year of high school when I was introduced to the darkroom. I knew right away that this was something I would carry with me through life but I never imagined I'd make a living from it! Nearing graduation I received the Artistic Merit Scholarship at The University of Hartford which allowed me to further pursue my dreams as a photographer. In school I learned all aspects of the field -- from small, medium, and large format cameras, to commercial lighting, analog darkroom processes, to digital post production editing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with all walks of life! But my passion certainly lies with solo portraits, and utilizing photography as a therapeutic tool for self love and appreciation.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
